In European countries, clean energy is increasingly becoming an important part of strategies to ensure energy security and economic stability. The latest figures show that wind and solar power continue to expand their role in the European Union's electricity system, while reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels is yielding clear economic benefits.

According to data from the UK-based energy research firm Ember, solar power continued to set new records in several major European markets this May. Spain recorded a daily solar power output of 229 GWh, while France reached 160 GWh.

Previously, Ember reported that by April, wind and solar power production in the European Union had increased by approximately 13% compared to the same period the previous year. This growth follows a prominent trend expected in 2025, when wind and solar power will account for around 30% of EU electricity production, surpassing fossil fuels for the first time.

Along with increased production, the economic benefits are also becoming increasingly clear. According to the latest report from the International Energy Agency, clean energy helped the European Union save approximately 51.4 billion euros last year by reducing the need to import fossil fuels. This shows that renewable energy in Europe is no longer just a climate issue, but has become an economic and energy security tool, helping the EU reduce its dependence on fluctuating international oil and gas prices.

In European countries, energy transition is being seen as a strategic self-reliance challenge. For energy-importing countries, including Vietnam, the experience of the European Union shows that investing in renewable energy, the grid, and storage not only helps reduce emissions but also increases resilience to fluctuations in the global fuel market.
