On the morning of April 24, speaking with Tien Phong newspaper, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department informed that the unit had just received a rare brown-headed kite handed over by the guard of Van Don Secondary School (District 4, Ho Chi Minh City).

Accordingly, when discovering a large bird on the air conditioner heater, students at Van Don Secondary School reported it to the school. Mr. Nguyen Viet Tinh, a school security guard, caught this bird and voluntarily handed it over to the rangers.
Initially, the forest ranger agency determined that this was a brown-headed kite, female, weighing about 1 kg, scientific name is Nisaetus cirrhatus, belonging to group IIB on the list of rare and endangered forest animals. The ranger noted that the brown-headed kite above was in weak condition and could not fly.
Previously, on April 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department also received and rescued a white-bellied sandpiper. The animal was voluntarily handed over by Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Chau (in Xuan Thoi Dong commune, Hoc Mon district). The white-bellied sandpiper weighs about 4kg, scientific name is Anthracoceros albirostris, belongs to group IIB on the list of rare and endangered forest animals.
