In a Bloomberg Power On report, analyst Mark Gurman stated that Apple's upcoming budget MacBook model will come in a wider range of bright, vibrant colors than those currently available on the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
According to Gurman, the colors Apple has been testing on its products over the past year include pale yellow, pale green, blue, pink, silver, and dark gray. However, he notes that only some of these colors may be officially sold.
If the rumors are accurate, this would be Apple's most colorful laptop in recent times. In 1999, the company launched the iBook G3 in orange, cranberry blue, indigo, graphite, and lime green.
A Bloomberg writer emphasizes that this will be one of Apple's most noteworthy laptops early this year. Priced under $1,000 , the device is expected to use an iPhone processor (possibly the A18 Pro) instead of an M-series chip.
According to the Weibo account of leaker Instant Digital , similar colors were previously tested by Apple on the MacBook Air M2, but were not officially released.
Compared to the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, the cheaper MacBook is expected to have a screen size under 13 inches. Apple is employing a new, faster manufacturing process to reduce costs without compromising product quality.

In August 2025, DigiTimes reported that the affordable MacBook would feature a 12.9-inch screen, similar to some iPad Air and iPad Pro models. For comparison, the current MacBook Air has a 13.6-inch screen.
Reviews suggest that the A18 Pro's performance is comparable to the M1 chip. The new MacBook could replace the MacBook Air M1, a device released in 2020 but still sold in some stores for around $500 .
