Martinez is set to return to playing.

Martinez missed the last two Premier League matches against Everton and Crystal Palace due to a calf injury. However, in an interview before the Palace game, manager Carrick delivered good news to Manchester United fans.

“Licha is progressing well. He’s closer to returning than some other cases. Hopefully, it’s only a matter of days, not too long. We’ll assess him further in the next day or two,” Carrick said.

In the last two seasons, Martinez's contributions to MU have been constantly interrupted by injuries, particularly a fractured foot that kept him out of action for months. Therefore, any sign of instability causes anxiety among fans at Old Trafford.

Under Carrick, Martinez was considered a crucial defensive anchor. He started five consecutive games in the early stages of the new era, contributing to the team's stability. Statistics show that this season, MU have only lost two of the 15 games Martinez has played in, and only one of those was when he started.

The Argentinian center-back's reliability, situational awareness, and fiery spirit have significantly strengthened the Red Devils' defense.

Although he couldn't feature in the win against Palace, the prospect of Martinez's early return is very encouraging as MU enters a crucial stage of the season.
