Novak Djokovic came from behind to defeat sixth seed Hubert Hurkacz 5-7, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) to win the Geneva Open, thereby reaching 100 ATP Tour titles. Despite losing the first set, and being down 2-4 in the deciding set, the Serbian player still managed to break back and win both tie-breaks with the same score of 7-2.

Opponent Hurkacz had just returned from a knee injury and played with his leg wrapped in a bandage. Despite needing medical attention after the second set, the Polish player persevered and created a back-and-forth match.

"I think Hurkacz played better than me and was leading for most of the match. This victory is a miracle. Of course, I fought my hardest. If Hurkacz hadn't suffered that knee injury, he probably would have won," Djokovic said after reaching 100 titles.

This has been a particularly memorable week for the Serbian tennis player. He not only celebrated his 38th birthday, but also became the third male player in the Open Era to reach 100 ATP titles – after American legend Jimmy Connors and his "Big 3" friend, Roger Federer of Switzerland.

Djokovic's first ATP title was won in 2006 when he defeated Nicolas Massu in the final of the Dutch Open. Nearly two decades later, on his 100th title, he surpassed Massu's former pupil, Hubert Hurkacz, to complete this significant achievement.

The joy was even more complete when Djokovic's family was in the stands to witness this historic milestone.

Notably, this is also Djokovic's first ATP title in nine months, since he won the gold medal in the men's singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics last August.

"My team, thank you, not only for being there for me in the good times, but also in the bad times. You are the ones who know how difficult it is to maintain this level of intensity on the court. I want to thank you for helping me achieve this 100th victory," - Djokovic thanked his team.

Even more remarkably, this title came right after Djokovic and Andy Murray parted ways ahead of Roland Garros.
