On the afternoon of July 15th, Dr. Dang Thuc Anh Vu, Deputy Director in charge of the Binh Thuan Department of Health, confirmed that there are currently 8 patients being treated at the Emergency Department of Phan Thiet City Medical Center, suspected of food poisoning while sightseeing in Phan Thiet City.
According to Mr. Vu, the patients' health is now basically stable. "The Binh Thuan Department of Health has directed its professional units to promptly inspect and support the Phan Thiet City Medical Center in caring for patients suspected of food poisoning. At the same time, they are inspecting the establishments that provided food services to this tour group," Mr. Vu said.
Meanwhile, a doctor in charge of food safety and hygiene at the Binh Thuan Department of Health said he is currently at the Phan Thiet City Medical Center to verify the incident. The patients have recovered and may be discharged tonight.
According to this health official , eight patients were brought to the Phan Thiet City Medical Center with symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain. These were part of a group of approximately 60 people from a medical facility in Ho Chi Minh City who were vacationing at a resort on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street (Phan Thiet City) since the afternoon of July 14th.
The Phan Thiet City Medical Center provided emergency treatment to patients suspected of food poisoning on the afternoon of July 15th.
Currently, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department of the Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Health has formed an emergency inspection team to collect food samples from the resort where the medical team is staying.
However, according to the official in charge of food safety and hygiene, the information needs to be re-checked because the group of tourists was large and ate at many different places, so it is not yet possible to confirm which food establishment allegedly caused the food poisoning.
On the afternoon of July 15th, the leaders of Phan Thiet City Medical Center also visited the Intensive Care Unit to inquire about and encourage their colleagues, as well as to provide support and facilitate the treatment process.
The Binh Thuan Department of Health is continuing to direct the investigation and clarify this matter.
