
In 2023, the total capital allocated and mobilized for the implementation of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Muong Ang district was over 115 billion VND. Disbursed funds as of November 30, 2023, amounted to over 62 billion VND, reaching 54.1% of the allocated capital. To implement the main targets of the Program, Muong Ang district continued funding for 11 projects, invested in 4 new projects, and maintained and repaired 20 projects. Over 80% of poor and near-poor households received support to improve their production capacity. The poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard in the district decreased by 8.32% compared to 2022.

The projects, sub-projects, and activities of the Program were implemented synchronously. 24 projects were implemented to diversify livelihoods and develop poverty reduction models for 518 households; 15 projects supported production development for 272 households; and 133 poor and near-poor households received new housing construction or house repairs… Regular poverty reduction policies and social policy credit support for poverty reduction were implemented fully, promptly, and to the correct target groups as prescribed.

During the meeting, delegates exchanged and discussed difficulties and obstacles encountered in the implementation of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the district. Simultaneously, Muong Ang district requested the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to consider and propose adjustments to the funding allocation between projects and sub-projects to better suit the local situation.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Van Thanh requested that Muong Ang district focus its investment on key poverty reduction projects. Livelihood models and vocational training for rural laborers should be diversified and tailored to market demands. Attention should be paid to vocational training and job creation to reduce poverty rates. Models and best practices for poverty reduction should be developed that are suitable to the local conditions and characteristics…
Previously, the monitoring team conducted on-site inspections of several infrastructure development projects, livelihood diversification projects, and poverty reduction models under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Muong Ang district.
