Unique duck catching game

On September 2, the People's Committee of Son Vi commune, Lam Thao district organized a duck swimming and catching game. This is one of the special activities in the commune organized to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 * September 2, 2024).

The organizers are preparing to release the ducks into the pond.

At Uncle Ho's fish pond (area 10), 150 ducks were released into the pond for people to catch. Participants must be healthy and know how to swim. The game attracted a large number of people to participate, especially young men who were good swimmers and skillful swimmers. There was no division into teams, no winner or loser, the reward for participants was the number of ducks they caught.

Duck catching is a traditional game held annually, a long-standing cultural beauty in the lives of the people here, a healthy sport, training health, physical strength, swimming skills. With the concept that each duck caught will bring luck to themselves and their families, conveying the wishes of the people in agricultural production, praying for good crops, healthy children in the family and at the same time creating a spirit of solidarity and cohesion in the community.
