During her trip to Da Nang for the New Year, Lee Seo Yeon (a South Korean tourist) was surprised by the city's transformation. Having visited Da Nang once before in 2019, upon returning to South Korea, she frequently read positive reviews about the city on various online groups. “Some of my friends have been to Da Nang 5-6 times and still want to return. Those shared experiences motivated me to go back to Da Nang. And I was truly surprised by how different Da Nang has become,” Lee shared.

It's no coincidence that Da Nang is consistently chosen by international tourists as their destination. Over the past year, the city's tourism industry has continuously undertaken activities, promotions, and the opening of new flight routes to attract visitors.

In 2025, several new routes will be opened, including the Yangon (Myanmar) - Da Nang route, the Dubai - Da Nang route, and three long-term charter routes: Astana and Almaty (Kazakhstan); Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). In addition, several routes will be restored from Bangkok (Thailand) - Da Nang; from Osaka (Japan) - Da Nang; and from Shenzhen (China) - Da Nang.

The year 2025 also saw the entry of many new airlines operating routes to Da Nang, such as Myanmar Airways, Philippines Airlines, Emirates, Scoot Airlines, Parata Air, etc. The presence of these new airlines has diversified operating partners, expanded the customer segment, and enhanced the city's air connectivity capacity.

Currently, the city has 26 flight routes, including 8 domestic and 18 international routes. It is estimated that the total number of flights to Da Nang in 2025 will reach over 48,000 (an estimated increase of 12.4% compared to 2024), of which the number of international flights is estimated at over 20,200, an estimated increase of 6.7% compared to 2024; the number of domestic flights (to Da Nang and Chu Lai airports) is estimated at nearly 28,000, an estimated increase of 16.9% compared to 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company, commented that opening new flight routes helps Da Nang reduce its dependence on some traditional tourist markets, creating a more balanced and stable tourism industry; accessing new markets such as Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and exploiting the tourism potential from these regions. The presence of major airlines contributes to promoting Da Nang's image internationally, attracting the attention of tourists and investors…

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, air travel continues to be the main means of bringing tourists to Da Nang. During the peak period from December 2025 to February 2026, there will be an average of 140-142 flights per day. The number of tourists from South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines is expected to increase significantly.

This is also a golden opportunity for Da Nang to implement promotional activities and connect with international markets. A highlight is the tourism stimulus program themed "New Da Nang - New Experiences," aiming to provide tourists with services and products of the newly merged Da Nang.

According to Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, Da Nang's strategic goal is to become a high-end tourism center in Asia, leading in cultural experiences, entertainment, and relaxation.

To achieve this, the tourism industry and businesses need to invest in the depth of their products, creating a unique essence of heritage and cuisine based on existing foundations; build a culinary map of Da Nang - Quang Nam, with restaurants using local ingredients; develop experiential tourism based on traditional craft villages (pottery, silk, baking) specifically for high-end tourists; link service supply chains between parties; and especially optimize services, amenities, and incentives to encourage tourists to spend more and return multiple times.

By 2026, Da Nang aims to serve 19.1 million visitors to accommodation establishments, a 10.5% increase compared to 2025. Of this total, an estimated 8.7 million are international visitors and 10.4 million are domestic visitors. Revenue from accommodation, food, and travel services is targeted to reach nearly 70 trillion VND, a more than 15% increase compared to 2025.
