The color green surpasses the mountains.
At 11 PM, the volunteer convoy rolled out of Duong An commune, carrying hundreds of gifts and the enthusiastic hearts of Hai Phong's youth union members. Its destination was Long Phieng commune (Son La province), a mountainous border commune between Vietnam and Laos, where the lives of the people are still fraught with hardship.
After many days of diligent preparation, the "Winter Volunteer Program" 2025, organized by the Binh Giang Youth Volunteer Club in coordination with the Duong An Commune Youth Union and the Dai Son Commune Youth Union, has officially begun.
As dawn broke over Long Phieng, mountain mist still clung to the stilt houses. In the schoolyard, volunteers quickly hung up the program banners and arranged bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, student jackets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more. Each gift package was neatly and meticulously prepared, reflecting the heartfelt generosity of the givers.
Nguyen Hong Tu, Secretary of the Youth Union of Phu Khe village (Duong An commune), who participated in the highland volunteer journey for the first time, shared: “This is the first time I’ve set foot in Long Phieng, and I truly understand the difficulties faced by the people here. When I personally handed out warm jackets to the children and saw their radiant smiles, we understood that all the hardships on this long journey were worthwhile.”

Here, the delegation presented a youth project "Lighting up the Countryside" consisting of 40 solar-powered streetlights; and distributed 200 gifts to students and 250 gifts to local residents, with a total value of over 130 million VND from social contributions by organizations and benefactors.
The village roads are illuminated by the hearts and beliefs, the hope for a safer and more prosperous life.
The spirit of "warm winter in the highlands" is not limited to just one locality; it has spread throughout the Youth Union branches of Hai Phong. Responding to the volunteer movement for the community and celebrating the first Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hai Phong City, at the end of December 2025, the Youth Unions of Chi Minh, Tu Ky, Tan Ky, and Lac Phuong communes coordinated to organize the "Winter Volunteer Program 2025" in Chi Lang and Quan Son communes (Lang Son province).
With the spirit of "Our youth - dedication, sharing, and responsibility," thousands of practical gifts were delivered directly to people and students in the highlands: 3,000 notebooks, 1,500 pens, 420 boxes of instant noodles, porridge, milk, along with desks, blackboards, floor mats, school bags, shoes, new clothes, and carefully sorted used clothes.
In addition, two youth projects, "Lighting up the Countryside" and "Electricity for the People," were implemented, installing 40 solar-powered poles and bulbs; providing lighting for 8 households in Na Lia village (Quan Son commune) that previously lacked electricity. The total value of the program is approximately 410 million VND.

Also in Lang Son, the youth of Le Dai Hanh ward left a strong mark with the "Warm Winter in Lang Son 2025" program in Nhat Hoa commune. Gifts worth 38 million VND were given to families severely affected by landslides after the storm and children in particularly difficult circumstances, along with many essential necessities.
Hoang Van Luc, Secretary of the Youth Union of Nhat Hoa commune, emotionally said: “The presence and gifts from the youth of Hai Phong during these days are a great source of encouragement for the people. It's not just about material things; it's also about giving us the belief to strive forward and stabilize our lives.”
The "Warm Winter" journey extended to Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai province), one of the particularly disadvantaged areas where the Mong ethnic group makes up the majority of the population. There, the Youth Union distributed 1.8 tons of rice, over 100 warm blankets, 6,000 notebooks, hundreds of cartons of milk and instant noodles, along with cash and clothing to students and impoverished households, with a total value exceeding 90 million VND.
Weaving Love

In 2025, activities will not only focus on giving gifts, but also aim for sustainable solutions such as building youth projects, improving living conditions, supporting education, healthcare, and transferring technology to people in disadvantaged areas.
These heartfelt gifts represent the collective efforts of the community and the youth of Hai Phong in their journey towards social welfare.
It is evident that volunteer activities are becoming increasingly in-depth, well-organized, and linked to the actual needs of the locality and the ability to mobilize social resources.

Winter will pass, warm clothes may wear out, but feelings of sharing will remain forever in the hearts of both givers and receivers. For the youth members of Hai Phong, this journey is also a journey of growth, where the spirit of initiative and community responsibility is forged through each challenging path in the highland villages.
"Winter Volunteer Program" and "Warm Winter in the Highlands" are nationwide programs implemented annually by the Central Youth Union and city-level Youth Union branches, linked to major movements such as "Pioneering and Volunteering for the Community" and "For Social Welfare".
