According to the Can Tho Youth Employment Service Center, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the demand for labor recruitment in the city has increased, focusing on the fields of production, processing, trade and services, garment manufacturing, seafood processing, and general labor. Through its networking activities, the Center has recorded over 400 businesses registering to recruit with more than 1,000 job positions; and has referred nearly 2,000 full-time workers and nearly 300 part-time workers.
Along with direct job counseling and placement services, the Information Technology Application Center is expanding job placement channels on digital platforms; producing various promotional publications such as infographics, motion graphics, and guidebooks to diversify counseling and job placement methods.
The Center's fanpage has nearly 42,000 followers and over 3.1 million views; its Facebook job group attracts more than 22,000 members. On the Zalo OA platform, the Center recorded over 8,300 interactions; maintaining two Zalo job support groups with nearly 1,100 members. The Zalo group "Can Tho Youth Jobs" alone has 295 members, including key youth union officials in communes, wards, and schools, contributing to the dissemination of recruitment information and skills training courses to youth union members, students, and university students.
One channel that many students are interested in is the Zalo group "Student Part-time Jobs". Here, information on seasonal and part-time job openings is updated regularly and is vetted, making it easier for students to find jobs that fit their study schedules, abilities, and needs.
Nguyen Bich Ngan, a student at Can Tho Tourism College, shared: "Recruitment information on the Zalo group is clearly posted, stating job requirements, making it easy for students to find and choose. Part-time work helps me hone my skills and better prepare for future careers."
According to Mr. Ngo The Nhut, Head of the Career Counseling and Employment Services Department at the Can Tho Youth Employment Service Center, surveys show that approximately 80% of job seekers are aged 25-34. Over 60% of applicants have a university degree, while about 40% of businesses are looking to hire at this level. The sectors with the most job openings are business and sales, accounting and auditing, engineering, and general labor. For young people, the demand for jobs is concentrated in office staff, technical staff, machinery and equipment operators, general laborers, and some other professions.
In reality, young workers face numerous difficulties when entering the labor market, especially the gap between their training and the requirements of businesses. Some young people lack practical experience; they are limited in communication skills, teamwork, time management, and adaptability. Meanwhile, businesses prioritize IT skills, foreign languages, a sense of responsibility, work discipline, and the ability to learn quickly.
According to Mr. Ngo The Nhut, the trend of freelance work and changing jobs to find a more suitable environment is becoming increasingly common among young people. However, without proper guidance, frequent job changes can affect the accumulation of experience, the building of a professional profile, and long-term development opportunities. Therefore, the Can Tho Youth Employment Service Center focuses on integrating career guidance into its job counseling and placement activities, helping young people choose jobs that match their abilities and strengths; equipping them with career planning skills, application skills, and a professional work ethic.
In addition, the Center strengthens exchanges with businesses regarding policies, benefits, and working environment, contributing to long-term commitment between businesses and employees. Simultaneously, it implements short-term skills training courses; and collaborates in organizing training on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital content creation, image processing, video production, learning, and work, thereby enhancing the skills of young people, students, and workers to meet the new demands of the labor market.
