Over seven years ago, Mr. Lam Bung's family moved to Cha La hamlet to settle. Life was extremely difficult at that time. Every day, Mr. Lam Bung worked odd jobs to make a living. His wife was ill and stayed at home. Understanding his family's situation, the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Station provided them with two female cows under the "Cattle Bank Program to Help the Poor in Border Areas." Less than a year later, the pair of cows began to reproduce. To date, Mr. Lam Bung's family owns a herd of cows worth approximately 320 million VND.

At the same time as Mr. Lam Bung, three other households also received breeding cows and goats from the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Station to develop their economy. Lieutenant Colonel Chu Huy Cong, Political Officer of the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: “Stationed in an area where nearly 40% of the population are ethnic minorities, we are determined to work together with the local government to care for the people and develop social welfare through practical actions, contributing to building a strong foundation of public trust in the border area.”

Mr. Lam Bung and officers from the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Station exchanged ideas and discussed methods for caring for the cattle herd.

In 2025, the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Station coordinated and organized many programs including medical examinations, health care consultations, and the distribution of nearly 500 gifts to poor people; awarding 20 scholarships, 50 school bags, raincoats, and uniforms to students; organizing a "zero-cost" stall and programs such as "Spring Border Guard: Warming the Hearts of the People," "Borderland - Mid-Autumn Festival Night," etc., to help people stabilize their lives.

In addition, the unit also sponsors 3 students and adopts 1 child under the "Border Guard Post's Adopted Children - Helping Children Go to School" program. Major Dinh Ngoc Nam, Deputy Political Officer of Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Post, shared: "To have a firm grasp of the local situation and to promptly support the local Party committee, government, and people, the Post has assigned 7 Party members to participate in activities at 6 hamlet Party branches and 30 Party members to be in charge of 60 households in the border area. Thanks to this, many households with difficult circumstances have received assistance and we have proposed support to develop their economy and overcome poverty."

A typical example is the case of Ms. Thi Hanh, a Khmer ethnic minority woman from a poor household in Loc Thanh commune. Through local intelligence gathering, officers from the Border Guard Post proposed to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Loc Thanh commune to build a solidarity house for her family; at the same time, they mobilized benefactors to provide matching funds so that the house could be started and completed before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse. According to Mr. Le Thinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Loc Thanh commune, in recent times, the Loc Thinh Border Gate Border Guard Post has regularly coordinated closely with the local government, actively mobilizing support to improve the lives of poor households in border areas through meaningful programs and activities. These actions contribute to shining a positive image of the Vietnamese People's Army in the new era.
