Project of 2 students from Ho Chi Minh City won first prize in international programming competition Codeavour 6.0

News from the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the international programming competition Codeavour 6.0 held in Qatar, in the final round held on May 17, the Vietnamese student delegation excellently won 1 first prize in the primary category and 1 consolation prize in the high school category. The award ceremony took place late last night, May 17.

Codeavour 6.0 is a prestigious international competition on programming, AI and innovation for students, organized by STEMpedia Education Organization (USA), with the sponsorship of IHub @ IISc AI & Robotics Technology Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology of India, Worlddidac International Education Association. The national round in Vietnam is jointly organized by Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) and KDI Education.

Project Presentation to the Jury

Participating in Codeavour 6.0, teams will have to apply programming languages, robotics and artificial intelligence to create a project that solves real-world problems. After that, the teams will directly present the project to the judges in English, thereby helping to develop critical thinking, creative thinking, communication and collaboration - 4 core competencies of the 21st century for students.

The international round of Codeavour 6.0 attracted contestants from 18 participating countries, such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Jordan, Nepal, Iraq, Egypt, Türkiye... At the international round of Codeavour 6.0, the Vietnamese team competed with 7 teams in 3 groups: Primary, Secondary and High School.

The organizing committee awarded the consolation prize for the high school category to the team from Vietnam.

In the final results, in the primary category, the Vietnamese team won first prize with the project “Smart Flood Resistant House” implemented by two students Nguyen Anh Duy and Cao Nguyen Long (class 5/2), Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). In addition, in the high school category, the project “Smart Traffic System” implemented by three students Bui Duc Minh (11A2), Le Hong Khai (11A2), Nguyen Quoc Doanh (11A1) from IRIS Primary, Secondary and High School (Thai Nguyen) won the Encouragement Prize of the competition.

The organizers awarded first prize in the elementary category to the team from Vietnam.

According to the Organizing Committee, the excellent achievement in the first time participating in the Codeavour 6.0 competition is not only a source of pride but also affirms the scientific and technological capacity of Vietnamese students and the quality of STEM training in the country. The Vietnamese delegation has proven that with passion, creativity and effort, Vietnamese students can compete with international friends in creative and technological playgrounds.
