A project by two students from Ho Chi Minh City won first prize in the Codeavour 6.0 international programming competition.

(NLĐO) - The Vietnamese team won first prize with the "Smart Flood Resistant House" project, implemented by two students from Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School.

According to the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the Codeavour 6.0 international programming competition held in Qatar, in the final round on May 17th, the Vietnamese students excellently won 1 first prize in the elementary school category and 1 honorable mention in the high school category. The awards ceremony took place late last night, May 17th.

Codeavour 6.0 is a prestigious international competition in programming, AI, and innovation for students, organized by STEMpedia (USA), with the sponsorship of the IHub @ IISc AI & Robotics Technology Center under the Indian Ministry of Science and Technology , and the Worlddidac International Education Association. The national round in Vietnam is jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association (HCA) and KDI Education.

In Codeavour 6.0, participating teams will have to apply programming languages, robotics, and artificial intelligence to create a project that solves real-world problems. Afterward, the team will present their project directly to the judges in English, thereby helping to develop critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration – four core 21st-century competencies for students.

The international round of Codeavour 6.0 attracted contestants from 18 countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Jordan, Nepal, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, and others. In the international round of Codeavour 6.0, the Vietnamese team competed against 7 other teams across 3 categories: Elementary, Middle School, and High School.

The organizers awarded the consolation prize in the high school category to the team from Vietnam.

In the final results, in the primary school category, the Vietnamese team excellently won first prize with the project “Smart Flood Resistant House” implemented by two students, Nguyen Anh Duy and Cao Nguyen Long (both in class 5/2), Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). In addition, in the high school category, the project “Smart Traffic System” implemented by three students, Bui Duc Minh (11A2), Le Hong Khai (11A2), and Nguyen Quoc Doanh (11A1), from IRIS Primary, Secondary and High School (Thai Nguyen), won the Encouragement Prize.

According to the competition organizers, the outstanding achievement in the first participation in the Codeavour 6.0 competition is not only a source of pride but also affirms the scientific and technological capabilities of Vietnamese students and the quality of STEM education in the country. The Vietnamese team has proven that with passion, creativity, and effort, Vietnamese students can compete with their international peers in creative and technological fields.
