The tomb of Emperor Minh Mạng (Hiếu Lăng) is located on Cẩm Kê mountain, facing the confluence of the Hương River, about 10 km from the center of Huế city. It is one of the structures within the Huế imperial city complex that is popular with tourists and a frequent destination during the Lunar New Year of 2025.

The mausoleum boasts stunning architecture nestled amidst a harmonious yet majestic natural landscape. Beyond exploring its historical origins, this exceptional structure is also an ideal destination for tourists to take photos at the beginning of the year.

Many visitors say they come here for a photo spot that everyone takes countless pictures of: the Hoang Trach Gate behind the Sung An Palace, overlooking the Trung Dao Bridge and Minh Lau. The Hoang Trach Gate is a brick archway marking the end of the imperial palace area. From here, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the lake and other architectural structures.

Tran Huyen Lan (22 years old, a tourist from Thai Nguyen ) was impressed when taking photos at Hieu Lang. Having seen photos of friends checking in there and posting them on social media, especially the shots with this gate, Lan decided to visit Hue during this year's long Tet holiday.

"Standing at Hoang Trach Gate, you can see the entire view below. The spectacular natural landscape combined with the magnificent architecture means that you can take beautiful photos just by pointing your camera. The most suitable outfit for taking pictures at this location is an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress)," Lan said.

Because of its appeal, many domestic and international tourists stop and queue at this gate to check in.

Besides its prime location, the tomb of Emperor Minh Mạng also comprises nearly 40 other large and small structures, all solidly built and visually appealing. What makes Hiếu Lăng unique is that all the structures are symmetrically arranged along a vertical axis, extending from the Đại Hồng Môn gate to the base of the La Thành wall behind the emperor's tomb.

With its unique architecture combined with romantic nature, the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang is an ideal photo spot for young people during Tet (Lunar New Year).

The mausoleum, built between 1840 and 1843, faces south and is surrounded by a 2,000-meter-long wall, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares. The overall architecture of the Minh Mang mausoleum is symmetrical, solemn, yet romantic, and is considered an outstanding work of Vietnamese imperial architecture.

Besides Hieu Lang, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake (2015), Hue's historical sites welcomed thousands of visitors. The main attraction of these sites is the picturesque scenery and the peaceful, ancient atmosphere.

The project was built on 15 hectares.
