In today's era of booming information technology, digital transformation is considered a trend and an inevitable requirement because it has an increasingly profound impact on all economic and social sectors. For highly competitive industries like tourism, this work must be given even greater attention, with appropriate investment and timely implementation, thereby contributing to creating momentum for strong growth.

Over the past period, the local tourism industry has consistently focused on implementing Resolution No. 10 of the Provincial Party Committee (14th term) on digital transformation by 2025, with a vision to 2030, and related tasks in Binh Thuan. Accordingly, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively deployed several information technology platforms and applications in this field: the Binh Thuan Smart Tourism Information Portal, virtual reality tourism experiences. Furthermore, it has implemented a tourism trade platform, online tourism fairs, and used QR codes at tourist attractions for visitors to access information about destinations via QR code scanning. It has also undertaken the digitalization of 3D models of several tourist areas (Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan Branch, Provincial Party Committee Base historical site), and promoted tourism through social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

This plan aims to develop a smart tourism ecosystem in Binh Thuan, meeting the increasingly high demands of tourists in the digital age, making tourism a key economic sector, ensuring sustainable development and international integration… The plan also sets out several requirements such as developing smart tourism based on a tourist-centric approach, attracting more international tourists to Vietnam and promoting the increase of domestic tourism… Therefore, regarding the development of applications, the locality will focus on the following groups: Applications supporting tourists; Applications supporting state management of tourism; Applications supporting and managing smart destinations; Applications supporting and managing smart businesses.

Also in August, the People's Committee developed and issued a plan to implement a digital transformation program in Phu Quy island district with the goal of comprehensive digital transformation in Phu Quy, building an image of a modern, dynamic island district and providing many convenient services for residents, tourists, and businesses. At the same time, it aims to make Phu Quy an attractive destination both domestically and internationally, creating momentum for socio-economic development, improving the quality of life for residents, and increasing local budget revenue. Accordingly, in the tourism sector, digital transformation will involve deploying digital platforms to improve the quality of tourism activities in Phu Quy. This will enhance the experience and convenience for tourists, attract first-time visitors and encourage repeat visits, and increase tourist spending.
