It's fascinating to see images of Westerners wading through rice paddies, their faces beaming with joy at the experience of getting covered in mud in the Vietnamese countryside. Promoting rural tourism is receiving increasing attention from many localities.

The Central Office for New Rural Development Coordination has requested provincial and city Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide information on several digital platforms for promoting agricultural and rural tourism. This agency has collaborated with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to implement numerous activities promoting and introducing agricultural and rural tourism on digital platforms such as websites, YouTube, fanpages, and Zalo.

Specifically, the two units provided links to digital platforms such as: a bilingual Vietnamese-English page promoting rural tourism on the website of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration; a YouTube video channel promoting rural tourism; a Facebook fan page promoting rural tourism; and a multimedia guide platform on an application (app)...

Tourism is a non-polluting industry that has long been identified as needing investment for development because Vietnam has great potential, from its natural beauty to its rich culture, from resort tourism to spiritual tourism...

Returning to the potential of rural tourism in Quang Nam province, it seems that every district, town, and city in Quang Nam has beautiful fields, vegetable gardens, and picturesque mountain and river landscapes to explore and invest in for this type of tourism.

Lessons from Hoi An's success can be replicated in other localities. In tourism, it's crucial to tell a compelling story about the locality, its landmarks, or to showcase the unique cultural characteristics of traditional craft villages and their distinctive activities, making them a must-experience for visitors to Quang Nam. Tra Que vegetable village has told a fascinating story about the aroma, taste, and cleanliness of vegetables, a food highly valued in tropical cuisine.

There are tourism stories that need to be promoted. In this age of technology and social media development, even Ben Thanh Market, a symbol of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, has to collaborate with TikTokers to livestream and sell goods. Therefore, promoting rural tourism products through digital platforms is something that should be done, and needs to be done soon.

One advantage is that nowadays, almost everyone owns a smartphone, and filming, editing, or taking photos to post on social media isn't too difficult.

Popularizing these techniques, along with supporting local communities in creating websites and fan pages to promote rural tourism professionally (including in foreign languages), will help Vietnamese villages integrate into the global network more quickly.

Local authorities can also invite celebrities, photographers, or influential travel bloggers to visit villages with great potential, making the connection process faster and more effective.
