May Waterfall (Thach Quang commune) attracts tourists during the summer.
For many years, during the summer, May Waterfall has always attracted a large number of tourists from both within and outside the province to visit and cool off. Mr. Bui Van Nang, a specialist from the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Thach Quang Commune People's Committee, said: "May Waterfall, also known as the 'Nine-Step Love Waterfall,' is located amidst a primeval forest, cascading down from the mountaintop at a height of about 100m. It has nine tiers of waterfalls overlapping each other, creating gentle, winding streams like white silk ribbons. Besides the nine main tiers, there are also the 'father waterfall,' 'mother waterfall,' and 'child waterfall.' Large ancient trees line both sides of the waterfalls, providing shade. On sunny days, the waterfall's water is crystal clear, blending with the green of the forest, giving visitors a feeling of peace and tranquility."
Besides exploring the beauty of May Waterfall, visitors can also discover the culture of the surrounding Muong ethnic villages. Currently, the Muong people here still preserve their traditional way of life, from stilt house architecture to traditional dishes, brocade weaving... along with many cultural activities that reflect the unique identity of the Muong people, such as gong playing, love songs, traditional games, throwing the "con" (a type of ball), and bamboo pole dancing... to entertain and provide a unique experience for tourists.
To capitalize on its potential and advantages, and to attract tourists to May Waterfall, Thach Quang commune has actively promoted tourism through social media to reach a wide audience of friends and visitors. Simultaneously, it has launched a series of promotional programs, attractive tourism products, and organized a series of unique cultural and sports events during the summer, such as cultural exchanges with the Muong ethnic minority; organizing traditional folk games like stick pushing and tug-of-war... to provide many attractive experiences for tourists. In addition, it encourages households involved in community tourism to participate in training courses on tourism skills and techniques. This not only helps improve the quality of service for tourists but also preserves and promotes the traditional cultural values of the locality.
Located within the majestic Xuan Lien National Park, Thien Thuy Waterfall (Van Xuan commune) appears like a soft, silvery ribbon amidst the vast forest. The waterfall meanders through moss-covered cliffs, its white foam creating a scene that is both wild and poetic, captivating countless visitors. The name Thien Thuy originates from a story about the beliefs of the Thai ethnic group. In the past, the waterfall was called Mu Waterfall, because it originates from the peak of Pu Gio, a place perpetually shrouded in clouds. Amidst the misty haze, a white waterfall emerges from the mountainside, hence the name Thien Thuy (Heavenly Water). From then on, those who witnessed the waterfall's appearance through the mist were believed to experience good fortune.
In recent times, to attract tourists to Thien Thuy Waterfall and Xuan Lien National Park, the management board has developed many tourist routes and destinations and gradually improved the infrastructure to serve the development of ecotourism and experiential tourism, such as: the ecotourism route on Cua Dat Lake connected with a rest stop to enjoy local cuisine at the Khao River junction; ecotourism at Yen Waterfall and Thien Thuy Waterfall; ecotourism under the canopy of the primeval forest and the cluster of heritage trees such as cypress and samu...
