Is using AI to create games and make money a far-fetched idea?

A programmer with no prior game development experience used AI to create a game that earns $50,000 a month. Artificial intelligence is redefining how games are made.

Recently, social media has been abuzz with news about Fly Pieter, a game created using only a few AI commands, yet earning its creator over $50,000 per month. This event raises the question: Can AI truly revolutionize the gaming industry and make it easy for anyone to make money from games?

Speaking to a VietNamNet reporter about this story, Mr. Chu Tuan Anh, Director of the Aptech International Programmer Training System, said that creating games using AI and making a lot of money is not an exaggeration, but a reality.

However, achieving the success of Fly Pieter is not easy. According to Mr. Tuan Anh, the factors of "favorable timing, location, and human resources" play a crucial role.

First and foremost, the "right time" was the explosion of artificial intelligence, generating significant public interest. When someone with no prior game programming experience can create a complete product using AI, it makes a strong impression.

The "geographical advantage" was the game's strong spread on social media, attracting a large number of players. Finally, the "human factor" came from the interest of influential figures in the tech industry, causing the game to quickly gain recognition.

However, using AI to create games completely automatically is not simple. The developer of Fly Pieter, despite having no prior game programming experience, is a skilled programmer with the mindset and ability to effectively utilize AI.

AI helps create products quickly, but ideas, refinements, and game completion still require human input. The view that AI can completely replace humans in game development is inaccurate ,” Mr. Tuan Anh shared.

According to this expert, artificial intelligence is having a profound impact on the gaming industry. First, AI significantly shortens game development time. Programming tasks that previously took months can now be completed in just a few hours. This allows programmers to focus on creating engaging content and games, rather than solely on coding.

Artificial intelligence has also strongly inspired people without a background in game programming, motivating many to enter this field.

However, the explosion of AI also means that the gaming industry will become more fiercely competitive. When anyone can create games, the market will quickly become saturated, forcing developers to invest more in quality instead of simply mass-producing basic games.

Regarding concerns about AI replacing programmers, Mr. Chu Tuan Anh believes this is only partially true. AI can handle repetitive programming tasks quickly, but it cannot replace creative ideas, scriptwriting, graphic design, or sound production.

These processes still require human thinking. Therefore, programmers should not be afraid but should equip themselves with the skills to use AI as a supporting tool to optimize their work, rather than being completely replaced.

In reality, game programming training in Vietnam is not yet widespread and lacks a structured curriculum. Most training institutions have not integrated AI into their programs. However, some organizations have implemented international game development training programs, keeping pace with modern programming standards, including courses on "Prompt Engineering," which help harness the power of AI.

Currently, the number of gamers worldwide is constantly increasing, but in developed countries, the workforce of game programmers and programmers in general is declining, creating a huge demand for manpower in the gaming industry.

The gaming industry is a sector with the potential to generate significant revenue for Vietnam. Game programming, or game development outsourcing, is an industry that can bring in a lot of foreign currency and contribute to the development of the digital economy . This is seen as an opportunity for Vietnam – a country with a young workforce, a passion for technology, and a readiness to embrace AI.
