Elon Musk says that in an ideal scenario, none of us would need to work. Instead of just a basic income, everyone would receive a global high income.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology could make jobs an option within the next 10 to 20 years, although he cautioned that there is still much work to be done before this happens.

Billionaire Elon Musk has repeatedly asserted that AI and robots will help eradicate poverty, free people from work, and bring shared prosperity to society as a whole.

He said that in an ideal scenario, perhaps none of us would need to work. Instead of just a basic income, everyone would receive a global high income, and there would be no shortages of goods and services.

Musk also predicted that money will become less important in the future as AI and robotics develop.

He believes there is an 80% chance that AI will create a situation where humans don't need jobs and will have everything they need.

He added that if humans wanted to, they could work as a hobby, but if not, AI and robots would provide all the desired goods and services.

Musk has also made other bold predictions about the disruptive potential of AI and robotics. In November 2025, he stated that the widespread deployment of these technologies is the only way to resolve the US debt crisis, and that currency will no longer matter in the future.
