TPO - On the afternoon of September 12th, some sections of the Thang Long Boulevard service roads and underpasses were still flooded, affecting traffic. Motorbikes were directed to use the emergency lane on the highway to pass through the flooded areas.
On September 12th, the weather was sunny and dry, and water levels receded in many areas along the Thang Long Boulevard service road. |
However, the area around underpass number 3 and the service road opposite the Sunhouse building is still deeply flooded. |
At locations and points prone to flooding, the Hanoi Drainage Company Limited has implemented traffic diversion plans to guide people and ensure their safety. |
Despite warning signs and traffic diversions placed by authorities, some vehicles still disregarded them and drove through the flooded area. |
Some vehicles hesitated and turned around to avoid the deeply flooded section. |
Cars must drive close to the median strip to avoid flooding. |
People waded through floodwaters to retrieve belongings lost in a motorcycle accident in a deeply flooded area on the boulevard. |
Currently, there are 4 pedestrian underpasses in the area that are still flooded: pedestrian underpasses No. 3, 5, 6 and pedestrian underpass No. 4 (Km9 + 656). |
At underpass number 5, the water level remains at approximately 1 meter. |
At underpass number 6, vehicles can move when the water level recedes to about half the height of the wheels. |
| Due to flooding on the service roads on both sides of Thang Long Boulevard and in many pedestrian underpasses, the Hanoi Department of Transport has implemented a traffic diversion plan allowing motorbikes and buses to use the highway lane (the lane reserved for cars) to avoid the flooding. |
Authorities advise motorcyclists to maintain the correct speed and lane on Thang Long Boulevard and to strictly adhere to all signs indicating on and off ramps. |
