The first play-off match of the TNSV THACO Cup 2024 qualifying round was a contest between the Water Resources University team and the National Economics University team. Considered superior due to home advantage and being the reigning runner-up of the tournament, the home team Water Resources University quickly took the initiative. With a convincing 4-0 victory, the Water Resources University team secured the first ticket from the northern qualifying round to the finals of the THACO Cup 2024. Coach Vu Van Trung's team won all three matches played, scoring 12 goals and conceding none. The defending runner-up, Water Resources University, promises to go far in this year's finals.

The situation in Group 2 of the Central Coastal Region qualifiers is unpredictable, as all four teams still have a chance to advance before the final round of matches played yesterday afternoon (March 4). Compared to the previous two matches, Duy Tan University's team showed significant improvement in their finishing ability in the final game. Despite repeatedly falling behind, the team from Da Nang played very hard and staged a spectacular comeback to win 4-3 against Hue University of Science . Duy Tan University secured their first victory before exiting the tournament thanks to goals from Vo Thi Tai, Nguyen Dang Chau, Doan Van Manh, and Nguyen Ky Son. Le Dinh Thanh, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, and Phan Van Tuan scored for Hue University of Science.
The result of the match between Duy Tan University and Hue University of Science made the final match of the Central Coastal region qualifying round (between Hue University of Economics and Hue University of Law) even more significant, as whichever team secured 3 points would advance. Hue University of Economics, with a seemingly stronger squad and a well-planned approach, led 2-0 after the first 40 minutes, thanks to goals from Ngo Le Dinh Khanh and Tran Khanh Duy. With this advantage, Hue University of Economics played disciplined defense in the second half and maintained their lead, becoming the second team (along with Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education) in the Central Coastal region to qualify for the finals. This marks the second consecutive time Hue University of Economics has participated in the national tournament.
