Over 4 km of the parallel road to National Highway 50, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long An, with a scale of 6 lanes, has taken shape. On the construction site, engineers and workers are working diligently, racing against time to meet deadlines.
The project to build and expand National Highway 50 through Binh Chanh district is a key transportation project of Ho Chi Minh City. This project has an investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, with the starting point intersecting with Nguyen Van Linh road and the end point bordering Long An province.
The entire project has a total length of approximately 6.92 km, including a 4.3 km section parallel to the existing National Highway 50 and a 2.56 km section of the existing National Highway 50, expanding the road surface from 4 to 6 lanes, extending to the Ong Thin Bridge area (Ho Chi Minh City bordering Long An).
The Ho Chi Minh City Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works (Transport Board) announced that the National Highway 50 construction and expansion project is currently underway with four construction packages for the parallel section of National Highway 50, from the Nguyen Van Linh intersection to Km 4+200. After more than a year of construction, the parallel road to National Highway 50 has taken shape with 6 lanes. This section, nearly 4.3 km long, was started in late 2022 and has now reached approximately 53% completion. |
| In recent days, despite the scorching sun, workers have been working diligently. The construction site for the 1.5 trillion VND upgrade and expansion project of National Highway 50 from Ho Chi Minh City to Long An has a constant presence of engineers and workers, even during the Lunar New Year holiday. The parallel road section is expected to be completed in 2024 to help alleviate pressure on the existing National Highway 50. |
According to the Department of Transportation, the project is progressing smoothly, encountering only some difficulties due to land acquisition issues. Currently, the compensation and land clearance work is being handled by Binh Chanh District as the investor. To date, 544 out of 594 households and businesses have agreed to hand over their land. |
The photo shows the end section of the parallel road to National Highway 50 (on the left), which is over 4 km long and has 6 lanes. The existing National Highway 50 (on the left) has 4 lanes. It is expected that in mid-March, the investor will begin construction on 3 packages of the expansion of the existing National Highway 50, approximately 2.56 km long, up to the border with Long An province. |
The Department of Transport stated that for the expansion of the existing National Highway 50, most of the land has been handed over by households through signed agreements. |
The National Highway 50 expansion project, scheduled for completion in 2025, will increase the operational capacity of this route, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long An province and other provinces in the Mekong Delta. Simultaneously, the project will enhance connectivity between the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway and the upcoming Ring Road 3. This will contribute to the formation of a comprehensive transportation network, serving the socio -economic development of Ho Chi Minh City. |
