Regarding this issue, at the press conference providing information on the socio-economic situation in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of November 6, Mr. Nguyen Kien Giang , Deputy Head of the Department of Management, Maintenance and Operation of Traffic Works, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said that the Thanh Da peninsula area is being implemented into 3 projects, with the Traffic Works Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
These are the Thanh Da Peninsula Anti-Landslide Project - Section 2 (Saigon River - Saigon Domaine Hotel area); Thanh Da Peninsula Anti-Landslide Project - Section 3 (Binh Quoi, Cay Bang, Rach Chua); Thanh Da Peninsula Anti-Landslide Project - Section 4 (Saigon River - Ly Hoang Villa area to La San Mai Thon Church).

To completely resolve the contractors’ delays, the old construction unit of all 3 projects has had its contract terminated and transferred to a new unit. It is expected that phase 2 will be completed in March 2026, phase 3 in December 2025 and phase 4 in February 2026.
To prevent flooding due to high tides in the landslide locations of the Saigon River banks at the Thanh Da Peninsula landslide prevention projects, the Department of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Binh Quoi Ward and related units to inspect the scene.
Accordingly, the Department of Construction requested the Traffic Department to urgently implement solutions to handle landslide locations, prevent water from overflowing the banks causing flooding inside, affecting people's lives; at the same time, fence and warn of landslide locations.
The Traffic Department must promptly review the responsibilities of the construction contractor and related units due to construction delays and handle them according to regulations. Along with that, it is necessary to strengthen progress management and speed up construction progress, especially at locations where the site has been handed over...
In the immediate future, the Traffic Department will coordinate to reinforce embankments at key locations to prevent water during embankment construction, fences, and landslide warnings at locations where the site has been handed over. Construction units regularly check, arrange machinery, equipment, and personnel on duty 24/7 to handle incidents.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh, Deputy Head of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department (Binh Quoi Ward) added that the ward has coordinated with units to review unconstructed locations and build tide barriers in low-lying locations.
He said that the tidal level was forecast to rise to 1.77m but in reality it was very high. Therefore, the ward had to ask the militia of other wards to come and support the construction of dikes to prevent tidal surges. The ward also regularly updates tidal surge information and sends it to the ward chief to inform people to proactively respond; directs the Fatherland Front and the ward's organizations to record the impact of people to have a plan to partially support.
