Quang Ngai: Urgent evacuation of 58 households from landslide risk areas

On the afternoon of November 6, the People's Committee of Ngoc Linh commune (Quang Ngai province) organized an emergency evacuation of all 48 households with 170 people of Dak Thun village and 10 households with 40 people of Dak Nai village to temporarily take shelter at Ngoc Suc village school because it is located in an area with a high risk of landslides.

That same afternoon, police used vehicles to transport people from the landslide area to the school for shelter.

People in Dak Thun village (Ngoc Linh commune, Quang Ngai province), located in an area at risk of landslides, have been evacuated to Ngoc Suc village school.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thin, Vice Chairman of Ngoc Linh Commune People's Committee, directly visited, encouraged and gave gifts to the households taking refuge. He said that, for now, the commune has provided instant noodles, water and cakes to the people; if the storm continues, they will organize cooking and transportation to serve the people taking refuge at the school.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thin, Vice Chairman of Ngoc Linh Commune People's Committee, visited and encouraged the people.

Ngoc Suc village school has many rooms, arranged with mats and blankets for people to rest temporarily. Ms. Y Hot (Dak Thun village) said that when the local authorities mobilized to evacuate from the landslide-prone area, the whole family of 5 followed the commune's instructions. At the school, the family was arranged accommodation and supported with instant noodles, so they felt secure to take refuge and wait for the storm to pass before returning home.
