In his opening remarks at the European Political Community Summit in Granada, Spain, on October 5th, Borrell warned that if political conflict in Washington undermines US support for Ukraine, Europe will be unable to fill the void.
Borrell stated: “Ukraine needs the support of the European Union, but it also needs the support of the United States… Can Europe fill the void left by the United States? Certainly, Europe cannot replace the United States.”
In addition, the EU diplomat also expressed regret that Azerbaijan and Turkey decided not to attend the European Political Community Summit, due to escalating tensions related to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We won't be able to discuss serious issues because, in reality, more than 100,000 people have already been forced to flee their homes and escape the actions of the military ," he shared.
