In his speech at the opening of the European Political Community Summit in Granada, Spain, on October 5, Mr. Borrell warned that if political conflicts in Washington weaken the US's support policy for Ukraine, Europe will not be able to fill this void.
Mr. Borrell stated: “Ukraine needs the support of the European Union, but also needs the support of the United States... Can Europe fill the void left by the United States? Certainly, Europe cannot replace the United States.”
In addition, the EU diplomat also regretted that Azerbaijan and Turkey decided not to attend the European Political Community Summit, due to escalating tensions related to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“We cannot discuss the serious issue because of the fact that more than 100,000 people have had to rush to leave their homes and flee from the actions of the military forces,” he shared.
