On the afternoon of May 15th, a representative from Meta, Facebook's parent company, stated that they had identified several accounts intentionally exploiting the platform's algorithms to increase views, quickly attract more followers, or generate revenue unfairly.
These behaviors make it difficult for genuine creators to expand their audience and advance their careers.
Meta stated that it will continue to implement various measures to minimize spam content (annoying or unnecessary content) – often referred to as "junk" content – creating favorable conditions for genuine creators to reach potential audiences and achieve long-term growth on Facebook.
Specifically, content with lengthy, distracting captions, excessive hashtags, or completely irrelevant annotations will only reach existing followers and will not appear on the news feeds of those who do not yet follow.
Accounts found to be involved in this activity will have their revenue-generating capabilities restricted.

At the same time, Facebook will continue to take stronger measures to prevent fake interactions from spam accounts; removing fake pages created to artificially increase reach. Previously, in 2024 alone, Meta removed more than 100 million fake pages on Facebook.
In addition, Meta is promoting the testing of high-quality, engaging discussions. For example, they are testing a feature to flag comments that don't meet the standards or aren't relevant to the post's tone.
Content creators are often targets of fake accounts. In 2024, Meta removed over 23 million fake profiles of major content creators. In addition to this mechanism, Meta also added a comment management tool, Moderation Assist, to Facebook to detect and automatically hide comments potentially coming from fake accounts. Creators will also be able to report fake accounts directly in the comments section.
"We are continuing to upgrade our Rights Manager to help creators protect their content more effectively," Meta stated.
How can I become a successful content creator?
To become a successful content creator on Facebook, Meta recommends that users regularly share high-quality, unique content to retain viewers.
Creators can also monitor the Professional Dashboard to understand which content is effectively reaching their audience.
Additionally, prioritize content that generates interaction (comments, shares); and collaborate with other creators. Content should have no more than 5 hashtags; irrelevant hashtags can negatively impact content reach in the long run.
