On the evening of June 12th, numerous users in Vietnam and several other countries around the world unexpectedly experienced problems accessing social media platforms within the Meta ecosystem, including Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
The issue began to be reported around 8:40 PM (Vietnam time). According to reports from many users, the Facebook app automatically logged out accounts and displayed an error message saying "session has expired".
When attempting to log in again, the system repeatedly reports an incorrect password or an inability to connect to the server. At the same time, Instagram users are experiencing issues refreshing their news feeds, while the Messenger messaging app is unable to send or receive messages.
According to Tri Thức - Znews, some users in countries like Thailand have also experienced similar issues. "I was texting for work when my account was logged out. At first, I thought I'd been hacked, but when I asked my friends via text message, everyone was experiencing the same thing," shared Quỳnh Anh (Ho Chi Minh City).
On the global outage tracking site Downdetector, the number of bug reports for Meta platforms surged vertically in less than 10 minutes. This occurred simultaneously across both mobile (iOS, Android) and desktop versions.
Currently, Meta Group has not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the issue or the expected timeframe for resolution. When logging back into the applications, the screen displays a message indicating an issue has occurred and the developers are working to fix it.
