Users have reported that their Facebook and Messenger accounts are unexpectedly logged out and they cannot access them again, both on the app and the web versions.
At 10:30 PM, many people's Facebook and Messenger accounts were unexpectedly logged out when using them on computers and phones. Despite trying to log back in, the browser repeatedly displayed the message "website unavailable, link broken or deleted".

"Thinking my computer had been hacked, I switched to messaging via the app on my phone, but my account was also logged out, and I couldn't log in," said Que Chi (Ho Chi Minh City). She then switched to the Instagram app to get updates, but the app also displayed the message "Unable to load feed."
"People are frantically calling each other to ask questions and check if their accounts have been compromised. Some people advise against trying to log in, saying their passwords might have been stolen. I don't know what's going on," said Tu Anh ( Hanoi ).
On Downdetector, a tool that monitors internet service status, within just 10 minutes of around 10:30 PM, the number of outage reports from users of Meta platforms in many regions worldwide surged to nearly 400,000, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Threads, but WhatsApp remained unaffected. According to 9to5mac , Meta Quest users were also logged out, causing the virtual reality game Horizon Worlds to stop working.
The number of Facebook error reports reached over 300,000 by 10:30 PM on March 5th.
Not only in Vietnam, but hundreds of thousands of users worldwide have reported being unable to regain access and have had to resort to other social media and messaging services like X, Telegram, Viber, etc., to inform others. Some even had to use traditional phone calls and SMS to maintain communication.
The surge in users switching to other messaging platforms has overloaded some services. Around 11 PM, many Zalo users in Vietnam reported difficulties sending messages, especially on the web version. "I read Zalo messages from friends complaining about Messenger issues. But when I tried to reply, the system kept reporting an error that the message couldn't be sent," said Minh Khánh (Hanoi).

Besides services for individual users, the Workplace business tool was also disrupted. "The incident happened at night, so it only affected a small number of departments in the company. I can't imagine the consequences if it had happened during business hours," said Anh Duy, a technician at a company in Hanoi, adding that they had to send reassuring emails to the entire company.
Andy Stone, head of communications at Meta, confirmed on social media platform X at 10:50 PM: "We know people are having trouble accessing Meta's services. We are working to resolve the issue now."
By 11:20 PM, Meta services were gradually restored, but operation was still unstable. However, data on the Meta Business outage report page at 11:40 PM showed that business tools such as Ads Manager, Facebook & Instagram Shops, Meta Business Suite, and Graph API were still experiencing disruptions.
At 1 AM on March 6th, Facebook's official account spoke out for the first time, but offered no explanation: "We're back. We apologize to anyone who couldn't access Facebook today." Meanwhile, Andy Stone added that the problem stemmed from "a technical error," but did not elaborate.
A similar Meta outage occurred in 2021 when a range of the company's services were inaccessible across all platforms and in multiple regions globally, lasting for six hours. At the time, Meta attributed the problem to a "configuration error" in the system. In 2019, the web version of Facebook also lost connectivity for 24 hours.
