Thousands of visitors attended and were eager to learn about types of Vietnamese pho, traditional spices, techniques to create a delicious pot of broth, and enjoy pho from three regions with their own unique characteristics and sophistication. 

The Festival's opening ceremony was attended by central and local leaders; leaders of departments and branches of Nam Dinh province; representative counselor, embassy; artisans; domestic and foreign tourists. On the same morning, ambassadors, guests, and tourists participated in experiencing the space of Van Cu pho village, learning about the formation and development of pho over time; Directly experience the steps of making traditional pho and enjoy pho with famous flavors.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Tran Le Doai - Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee - said: "Pho Festival 2024 is deployed with the purpose of preserving the traditional craft villages of the homeland, bringing Nam Dinh pho to the forefront." in particular and Vietnamese pho in general into a national brand that can be integrated, affirming its culinary value on the world's elite culinary map, honoring pho culinary culture as a national intangible cultural heritage. , moving forward with the proposal to build a dossier to submit to UNESCO to register pho as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity."

At the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Dinh Hong Van - Senior Marketing Director, Masan Consumer Joint Stock Company (Masan Consumer) - co-organizer of Pho Festival 2024 shared: "It is the leading consumer goods company in Vietnam." Nam, we always carry within us a love for Vietnamese cuisine, as well as a responsibility to preserve and promote Vietnamese cuisine to the world. Co-organizing the 2024 Pho Festival, we want to contribute to honoring the Pho profession as a national intangible cultural heritage; Aiming to request competent authorities to allow the preparation of a dossier to submit to UNESCO for registration in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage".

One of the highlights of Pho Festival 2024 is the activities of 20 artisans and 30 people working together to create a giant pot of delicious, flavorful pho. According to the Organizing Committee, a 300-liter pot of broth is simmered from bones and spice powder with ingredients estimated to include 40kg of rare, cooked beef; 20kg of vegetables, chili peppers, and spices with strong Vietnamese flavors such as: Chin-Su fish sauce, salt, herbs such as dried cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, cloves, coriander seeds... Through preparing the pot broth, the Organizing Committee also wants to honor traditional Vietnamese spices. The activity served thousands of bowls of pho to guests, counselors and visitors attending the program. This is one of the unique features of Pho Festival 2024 and is also the positioning of aromas and spices in Vietnamese pho.

Artisan Le Thi Thiet shared that currently, many countries such as Japan, Korea... also cook Vietnamese pho, but they cannot determine the standard spices in pho cooking. Therefore, with the theme of Vietnamese Pho Road, in Pho Festival 2024, Vietnamese artisans and chefs will have the opportunity to introduce to domestic and foreign tourists the typical Vietnamese spices in creating pot. The broth has the right taste. Visitors will also enjoy the typical pho cakes of the three regions.
