FIFA has just issued a ban on Thanh Hoa FC (Dong A Thanh Hoa) registering new players. The ban will last for the next three transfer windows and will take effect from May 21, 2026.

This is the fifth time Thanh Hoa FC has been sued by FIFA in the first five months of 2026. The reason stems from the Vietnamese team's financial crisis, including unpaid salaries and signing bonuses for players.

This latest penalty comes shortly after striker Rimario Gordon announced his departure from Thanh Hoa. Therefore, it is possible that the Jamaican player has filed a complaint against the Thanh Hoa team with FIFA.

Previously, Rimario had refused to train and gone on strike due to not receiving his salary for several months. Once the team paid him, the player born in 1994 returned to the field.

If Thanh Hoa Club fails to pay its debt to the plaintiff on time, it will be unable to participate in the transfer market before the start of the 2026-2027 season, from July 22nd to September 22nd, 2026.

Coach Mai Xuan Hop's team only has two months left to manage their finances. Without the financial resources to pay off debts and buy players, Thanh Hoa will face many disadvantages next season.

In early May 2026, Thanh Hoa FC was granted an exception to participate in the V-League 2026-2027 due to financial and human resource factors. Today, May 22nd, is the deadline for Thanh Hoa to make the necessary additions.

Thanh Hoa FC currently has 24 points after 23 rounds. They are in the safe zone and are close to securing their survival in the league. Thanh Hoa is 7 points clear of the relegation zone with 3 rounds remaining.

Thanh Hoa Club has successfully had 4 bans overturned :

On March 17th, Thanh Hoa FC successfully paid the amounts owed to the four plaintiffs, resulting in FIFA lifting the ban on registering players. Since January 2026, Thanh Hoa has been sued five times.
