FPT Group and TR (South Korea) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the application of AI in smart healthcare for chronic disease management.
Specifically, the two parties officially collaborated to research, develop, and integrate Spirokit – TR's intelligent AI-powered lung function measurement device – into FPT's personal chronic disease management system (Chronic Care Management System).
This lays the groundwork, promising to open up an advanced healthcare model for chronic disease management, supporting patients in proactively and accurately monitoring their health at home, while doctors can access real-time data remotely to develop more effective treatment plans.
According to statistics, approximately 21% of Vietnam's population currently suffers from non-communicable chronic diseases, with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) being the most common. In particular, air quality in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is at an alarming level, significantly increasing the incidence of respiratory diseases, especially COPD, with the prevalence rate in Vietnam reaching 10.3%, the highest in the Asia- Pacific region. Most patients still rely on routine in-person check-ups or self-treatment, causing numerous inconveniences for patients and placing a significant burden on the healthcare system. The application of digital health technology to monitor and optimize treatment of chronic diseases is becoming an increasingly urgent need and a major challenge for the Vietnamese healthcare system.

Addressing the challenge of chronic disease management, FPT experts are researching and developing a software system specifically designed for chronic diseases. This system aims to help patients proactively detect and monitor their health at home, connecting vital signs monitoring devices with a mobile application. Simultaneously, information will be continuously synchronized with healthcare facilities to ensure close collaboration with medical teams, enabling doctors to monitor, recommend personalized care plans, and handle special situations promptly.
TR is a South Korean digital healthcare company specializing in the development and production of AI-based medical devices. TR has been selected by the South Korean government to undertake numerous important projects, including those of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises & Startups, the Ministry of Science & ICT, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Spirokit, a product developed by TR over many years, supports the early detection of respiratory diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with high accuracy, a compact design, and the ability to automatically connect with digital healthcare systems, allowing patients to easily and proactively monitor their health at home.
The collaboration between FPT and TR is a step towards providing a comprehensive solution, offering suitable medical equipment options for people to monitor their illnesses at home, helping FPT's Chronic Disease Management System maximize its effectiveness, creating a comprehensive treatment support platform, and acting as a bridge between patients and hospitals.
