Episode 12 of Friendly Rivalry opens with everyone discovering Ye-ri's connection to Tae-jun. Ye-ri explains that her family went bankrupt, leaving her in dire straits and living in a goshiwon (small boarding house) for a long time. Seul-gi thanks Ye-ri for sharing the truth honestly.

Meanwhile, Byeong-jin, now part of the group, realizes that Je-yi is the one controlling the drug market. He suspects one of his girls, Su-jin, of selling the fake cards he used to buy prescription drugs to Je-na.

At this moment, they find Je-na dead. Je-yi and Seul-gi go to Seul-gi's father's hospital to confirm the body. It seems that she jumped off a mountain, leaving her face unrecognizable. However, Seul-gi notices a yellow nail polish and a scar on the body's leg, which makes her suspicious.

At the same time, Byeong-jin sneaks into Je-na's hospital room and finds the fake cards he had hidden.

She meets someone from Su-jin's rehab center, who tells her the address of Su-jin's goshiwon.

Meanwhile, Ye-ri and Choi Gyeong investigate the school's medical lab. They recall that Je-na was last seen there on the day of the school festival. The lab, which is related to Tae-jun's medical center, contains a clue—a piece of paper with the goshiwon address, room key, and room number.

Meanwhile, Seul-gi arrives at Su-jin's goshiwon and learns that she is dead. The landlord finds her dead in her room and is worried about the remaining money. Seul-gi also discovers that someone has been paying Su-jin's rent and debts.

Seul-gi then reunites with Ye-ri and Choi Gyeong, and the trio enters Je-na's room, which is filled with math problems. The episode ends with Seul-gi noticing a locked diary and deciding to break it open.
