Ngoc Hoi high-speed railway station has convenient connections to the urban railway, road network, and national railway.
The North-South High-Speed Railway project, recently approved by the 15th National Assembly, involves a new line spanning 1,541km with a design speed of 350km/h; starting at Ngoc Hoi station ( Hanoi ) and ending at Thu Thiem station (Ho Chi Minh City), passing through 20 provinces and centrally-governed cities.
According to the pre-feasibility report, the total length of the high-speed railway line in Hanoi is approximately 27.9km. The route from Ngoc Hoi station basically follows the planned corridor; at the end of Phu Xuyen district, the route branches off towards the East to bypass the Dong Van industrial zone in Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province.

Next, crossing National Highway 1, the current railway line runs east of the expressway towards Phu Ly city. Phu Ly station is located in Liem Tiet commune, Phu Ly city, near the Liem Tuyen interchange, east of the expressway.
The Ngoc Hoi High-Speed Railway Station is located within the Ngoc Hoi complex in Ngoc Hoi and Lien Ninh communes (Thanh Tri district).
Hanoi plans to allocate approximately 250 hectares for the Ngoc Hoi complex to develop a fully functional national and urban railway hub.
In terms of scale, the Ngoc Hoi high-speed railway station is planned to have 4 tracks and 2 platforms, functioning as a major hub station in the North, where all trains will stop.
The Ngoc Hoi Depot is planned to be located in the western area of the Ngoc Hoi complex, covering an area of approximately 70 hectares. The high-speed railway depot will be used to store and shunt trains before carrying out maintenance and repair work on locomotives and carriages, and inspecting construction equipment.
The maintenance station is located within the Ngoc Hoi depot area to maximize land use efficiency. The station is used to consolidate maintenance equipment (compactors, road leveling lifts, ballast air conditioners, etc.) and store supplies and materials for the Hanoi - Phu Ly section.

Meanwhile, in Nguyen Trai and Van Phu communes (Thuong Tin district), the Thuong Tin freight station will be located, serving as Hanoi's southern freight hub. However, its scale will be determined in subsequent stages of the project.
In terms of connectivity, the Ngoc Hoi area has a fully planned and synchronized transportation system: Ring Road 3.5, Ring Road 4, National Highway 1, 3 urban railway lines (1, 1A, 6), and a bus system, as well as a public square to accommodate taxis and private vehicles. In addition, its connection to 4 national railway lines will help to quickly and conveniently alleviate passenger traffic congestion on the urban railway system.
Regarding railway connections, from the Ngoc Hoi complex, the high-speed rail line connects to the railway network north of the Red River via the planned eastern and western ring railway systems; connects to the center of Hanoi via urban railway line No. 1; connects to Noi Bai International Airport via urban railway line No. 6; connects to Hai Phong seaport and facilitates international transport with China via the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong and Hanoi - Lang Son lines.
