In Cai Nuoc commune, Ca Mau province, each Ca Mau crab is meticulously identified with a QR code before being sold. Attaching these digital passports marks the first step towards the professional commercialization of Ca Mau crabs.
Mr. Ho Quoc Khanh from Cai Nuoc commune, Ca Mau province shared: "Attaching QR codes for traceability will help improve the selling price of crabs, and make it much easier to get them into supermarket systems or for export."
With just a smartphone to scan the QR code, partners and consumers can instantly read the full origin of the crab.

Cà Mau crabs are tagged with QR codes for traceability before being sold.
Not limited to individual households, this "digital passport" issuance process has now been implemented synchronously across seafood businesses and cooperatives in Ca Mau province.
Mr. Pham Van Muoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province, said: "We will strengthen the issuance of QR codes for crab farming areas, while maintaining and protecting the geographical indication of Ca Mau crab. Currently, the Nam Can crab farming area has been established, and in the future, we will continue to develop this farming area."
QR code traceability is being gradually implemented across 360,000 hectares of ecological aquaculture farms in Ca Mau province. With this "digital passport," Ca Mau crabs will be able to confidently expand their reach, penetrate modern distribution chains, and enter export markets.
