Gia Lai is accelerating digital transformation with the goal of building a solid foundation for digital government, digital economy , and digital society. Synchronized solutions in information technology infrastructure, online public services, and e-commerce are yielding positive results, from digitizing administrative procedures to increasing e-commerce revenue.

Gia Lai has boosted investment and upgraded its information technology (IT) infrastructure with the goal of modernizing its administration and providing convenient online public services for citizens and businesses. The province has completed the registration of IPv6 addresses and Asset Numbers (ASNs) for its information systems, facilitating smooth digital transformation activities.

Currently, all communes, wards, and towns in the province have been connected to the central fiber optic network, making the deployment of online public services easier than ever. Important administrative procedures, including 943 partially online public services and 982 fully online public services, are integrated into the province's Public Service Portal, providing maximum convenience for citizens when accessing public services.

In the commercial sector, the province has witnessed a significant increase in e-commerce activities, with e-commerce revenue accounting for 7.5% of total retail sales. This reflects a strong shift in the economy from traditional transaction methods to cashless payment methods. All supermarkets, shopping malls, and utility service providers (electricity, water, telecommunications) in the province have adopted electronic payment methods, saving consumers time and effort.

The implementation of e-taxation has helped improve the efficiency of tax administration and encouraged businesses to adopt modern financial management methods. The province also supports Gia Lai's agricultural businesses in developing e-commerce transactions, bringing agricultural products to major e-commerce platforms, creating opportunities to expand the market for the province's distinctive products.

Digital transformation in agriculture

The agricultural sector in Gia Lai has entered a strong digitalization era thanks to the application of advanced software from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This software helps manage planting seasons, plant protection, management of planting area codes, and online disease reporting systems, contributing to improved productivity and efficiency in agricultural production. With over 18 high-tech production zones covering nearly 3,500 hectares, Gia Lai is aiming to establish a sustainable, environmentally friendly agricultural system closely linked to consumer markets through e-commerce platforms.

The product traceability system, especially for OCOP products, is building trust with consumers and helping Gia Lai's agricultural products reach domestic and international markets.

The Gia Lai provincial government has implemented solutions to develop collaborative models between government agencies and businesses, while also strengthening support for businesses in introducing and providing digital products and services.

Other sectors such as finance and banking are also undergoing significant transformation with the implementation of electronic tax systems, cashless payments, and IT applications serving professional tasks such as budget management, treasury, and public asset management.

Building Gia Lai into a smart city.

One of Gia Lai's key objectives in its digital transformation strategy is the development of smart cities. The "Smart School" model has been piloted at seven educational institutions in Pleiku City, helping students access digital learning tools, online learning, and cashless tuition payments.

Gia Lai is also continuing to promote the development of the tourism industry through digital tools. The province's tourism portal, gialaitourism.vn, is regularly updated to provide comprehensive information on tourist destinations, local specialties, and services for tourists.
