Gia Lai is promoting digital transformation with the goal of building a solid foundation for digital government, digital economy and digital society. Synchronous solutions in information technology infrastructure, online public services and e-commerce are bringing positive results, from digitizing administrative procedures to increasing e-commerce revenue.

Gia Lai has stepped up investment and upgrading of information technology (IT) infrastructure, with the goal of modernizing the administrative system, while providing convenient online public services to people and businesses. The province has completed the registration of IPv6 addresses and automatic network numbers (ASNs) for information systems, helping digital transformation activities take place smoothly.

Currently, all communes, wards and towns in the province have been connected to the center via fiber optic cables, making the deployment of online public services easier than ever. Important administrative procedures, including 943 partially online public services and 982 fully online public services, are integrated into the provincial Public Service Portal, providing maximum convenience for people when accessing public services.

Gia Lai strengthens digital economic development

In the commercial sector, the province has witnessed a significant increase in e-commerce activities, with the proportion of e-commerce revenue in total retail sales reaching 7.5%. This reflects the strong transformation of the economy, from traditional forms of transactions to cashless payment methods. All supermarkets, shopping malls, and electricity, water and telecommunications service facilities in the province have applied electronic payment, helping consumers save time and effort.

The implementation of e-tax has helped improve the efficiency of tax management, while promoting businesses to apply modern financial management methods. The province also supports Gia Lai agricultural enterprises to develop e-commerce transactions, bringing agricultural products to major trading floors, creating opportunities to expand the consumption market for the province's typical products.

Digital transformation in agriculture

The agricultural sector in Gia Lai has entered a strong digital era thanks to the application of advanced software from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. These software help manage forest planting seasons, plant protection, manage planting area codes and online disease reporting systems, contributing to improving productivity and efficiency of agricultural production. With more than 18 high-tech production areas on a total area of ​​nearly 3,500 hectares, Gia Lai is aiming to form a sustainable agriculture, protect the environment, and closely connect with the consumer market through e-commerce platforms.

The product traceability stamp regime, especially for OCOP products, is building trust with consumers, helping Gia Lai's agricultural products reach domestic and foreign markets.

Gia Lai has set a goal of developing a digital economy based on four main pillars: Information technology industry, digitalization of economic sectors, digital governance, and digital data. These pillars not only promote the development of key economic sectors but also help improve the province's competitiveness in the context of globalization. Gia Lai provincial authorities have issued solutions to develop models of cooperation between state agencies and enterprises, while increasing support for enterprises in introducing and providing digital products and services.

Other fields such as finance and banking are also transforming strongly with the implementation of electronic tax systems, cashless payments, as well as IT applications serving professional work such as budget management, treasury, and public assets.

Building Gia Lai into a smart city

One of Gia Lai's important goals in its digital transformation strategy is to build smart urban areas. The "Smart School" model has been piloted at 7 educational institutions in Pleiku City and helps students access digital learning tools, online learning, and cashless tuition payments.

Gia Lai is also continuing to promote the development of the tourism industry through digital tools.
