Gia Lai: Wild Sunflower Week

(CLO) On the afternoon of October 29th, Gia Lai province held a press conference to provide information about the Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano 2024, which will take place from November 6th to November 12th.

According to the Organizing Committee, the 2024 Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano will take place from November 6th to 12th. The opening ceremony will begin at 8:00 AM on November 8th at the communal house area of ​​Ia Gri village (Chu Dang Ya commune, Chu Pah district) with many unique cultural activities such as: Gong performances, folk dances, reenactment of the New Rice Harvest Ceremony; Exhibition and introduction of traditional brocade costumes; Sculpture and double-pestle rice pounding demonstrations; Fashion show; Art exchange; traditional weaving and brocade weaving competitions…

The press conference announcing the 2024 Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano was attended by many leaders and reporters.

Alongside these events, there were activities attracting tourists to experience and, for the first time, the sight of colorful hot air balloons flying through the festival grounds; the 2024 Half Marathon themed "Awakening the Chư Păh countryside - A journey connecting mountains and flowers," attracting thousands of participants, including professional and amateur runners; and the Chư Đang Ya volcano summit conquest competition…

The Chu Dang Ya volcano, home to millions of vibrant yellow wild sunflowers, will burst into bloom as part of an upcoming cultural and tourism event organized by Gia Lai province.

The program, eagerly awaited by tourists and locals alike, is an art event celebrating the Flower Week with the theme "Wild Sunflower Dance - Chu Dang Ya 2024," which will take place from 8:10 PM on November 9th and will consist of three parts: "Legend of Chu Dang Ya - Million-Year-Old Sediments"; "The Vitality of the Great Forest"; and "Wild Sunflower Dance," combining various art forms such as singing, dancing, group performances, modern dance, and theatrical scenes.

In particular, this spectacular art performance will feature a show with over 400 performers and audience members. This performance has received a Vietnam Record for "The largest number of participating artisans, performers, and students in the Central Highlands gong performance in Vietnam," as confirmed by the Vietnam Record Organization (Vietkings).

The vibrant yellow of the wild sunflowers attracts many tourists from near and far throughout the years of the Wild Sunflower Festival - Chu Dang Ya Volcano in Gia Lai province.

After many years of organizing the festival, this is the first year that the Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano is officially elevated to a provincial-level festival. Therefore, the upcoming cultural and tourism event has received significant investment in funding and preparation in terms of infrastructure, performance rehearsals, stage, sound, lighting, etc., along with a low-altitude fireworks display on the night of November 9th.

The Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano cultural event also features many artists who are widely loved by the audience, such as: Diva Thanh Lam, singer Minh Quan, singer Luu Huong Giang, singer Kyo York...

The Bien Ho historical and scenic site in Pleiku City will be the venue for several events during the 2024 Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano Festival.

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich affirmed: This is a major cultural event of the province, therefore the Provincial People's Committee has requested relevant departments, agencies, and local authorities to pay attention to ensuring food safety and hygiene; preventing restaurants, eateries, and parking lots from overcharging tourists in order to leave a positive image of the province in the hearts of visitors from near and far.
