Mr. Nguyen Van Ninh (Khanh Hung commune, Tay Ninh province) recently harvested 3 hectares of OM18 rice, yielding over 6 tons per hectare. Selling at 6,500 VND per kilogram, after deducting expenses, he earned a profit of approximately 14 million VND per hectare. Although rice prices have increased, many farmers are not benefiting because some rice fields were harvested earlier.
According to Nguyen Hoang Em, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hung commune: "For the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop, the entire commune planted nearly 11,900 hectares. To date, farmers in the area have harvested nearly 11,000 hectares, with yields ranging from 5-6.5 tons/ha. The selling price fluctuates from 5,900-7,500 VND/kg (depending on the variety). After deducting costs, farmers earn a profit of 5-15 million VND/ha."
Rice prices for the 2025 summer-autumn crop increased, but many farmers did not benefit because they had already harvested earlier.
Currently, the province still has nearly 200,000 hectares of 2025 summer-autumn rice and nearly 30,000 hectares of 2025 autumn-winter rice that have not yet been harvested. In the fields, pests and diseases such as rice blast, grain discoloration, and leaf blight are emerging and causing damage.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province is focusing on directing the prevention and control of pests and diseases in rice, strengthening propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage farmers to regularly inspect their fields to promptly detect pests and diseases and take preventive measures.
