A representative of the Durian Cooperative in Tien Giang said that currently, the area of Musang King durian entering harvest has increased, resulting in more output. A durian buyer in the West said the price of Musang King grown in Vietnam has begun to increase even at the beginning of the season, due to high exports while domestic supply is low. Especially in the March-April season, Musang King in the West has high quality so it is favored by consumers.
Besides high demand, according to cooperatives, the area planted with Musang King this season decreased compared to the same period in 2023. The reason is that many gardeners cut it down after trial planting because of low productivity and unfavorable climate. , often bruising or burning.
Leaders of the Vietnam Gardening Association (VACVINA) acknowledge that the area planted with Musang King durian is currently not much. This is a breed that requires high care techniques.
