Observations at several retail systems such as Go! Tops Market, Winmart, Hapro Mart, BRG Mart… show that prices of goods remain stable. At the same time, these supermarket chains are also implementing many attractive promotional programs to support consumers and contribute to market stability.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Director of Communications at Central Retail Vietnam, stated that in the context of rising input costs, maintaining stable prices at retail outlets along with large-scale promotional programs will contribute to market stability and limit the widespread impact of fuel price fluctuations on essential consumer goods.
Currently, the Group's supermarket chains, such as Go! and Tops Market, are running the "Live Healthy with GO! - Green Deals" promotion, from March 12th to March 25th. This promotion applies to essential product groups, including fresh vegetables, meat, and fish with discounts up to 30%; nutritious products like milk, yogurt, and health food with discounts up to 27%; and many convenient, nutritious ready-to-eat meals with discounts up to 23%.
Similarly, to mitigate the impact of fuel prices on retail prices, the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union ( Saigon Co.op ) has proactively worked with suppliers to maintain reasonable prices for many essential product groups.
With the advantage of a network of over 800 sales points nationwide, the supply of goods at the supermarket system remains stable, contributing to ensuring the supply of goods and supporting market stabilization across the country.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Director of Co.op supermarket in Hanoi (Ha Dong ward), said that the retail system has also increased its inventory at distribution centers, prioritizing domestic supply and nearby raw material areas to optimize transportation costs. As a result, many fresh food items such as vegetables, meat, fish, and fruits are still delivered to the supermarket daily with a stable supply and reasonable prices for consumers.
Besides maintaining stable prices, promotional programs are also being intensified to support consumers amidst rising living costs. From March 12th to 25th, Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.opFood, Co.opSmile, Finelife, Cheers, and Co.op Online stores are implementing discount programs on many items serving the daily needs of families.
In the processed food category, many familiar products such as cooking oil, rice, spices, instant noodles, and confectionery are discounted by up to 50%. Chemical products and household goods such as dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and kitchenware also have similar discounts, helping consumers save on living expenses.
At the fresh food counter, many items are discounted by up to 15% on a rotating basis, including fish, shrimp, beef, chicken, and various domestic and imported fruits…
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op, in the coming time, this retail system will continue to coordinate with suppliers, increase inventory and implement many promotional programs to maintain market stability, while supporting consumers in balancing their spending in the context of fluctuating living costs.
At Winmart supermarket chain, the prices of meat and many essential goods remain relatively stable thanks to abundant supply and price stabilization policies.
Meanwhile, surveys at several local markets in Hanoi show that the prices of vegetables, fresh food, and staple foods generally remain stable.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phong Lan, a pork vendor at Nam Trung Yen local market, pork prices are currently stable, mainly fluctuating between 110,000 and 120,000 VND/kg, with pork belly selling at 150,000 VND/kg.
Observations at local markets such as Trung Hoa Market and Thanh Cong Market show that common green vegetables like kale, cabbage, and water spinach have largely maintained their previous prices. Meanwhile, some fruits like apples, oranges, and pears have seen a slight increase of about 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.
Some small business owners said that the market is still monitoring fuel price developments before deciding to adjust selling prices. However, small-scale transportation costs have already started to increase.
