The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), remained at 103.72 – unchanged from March 16, 2025.

The US dollar continues its downward trend globally. The USD-Index is now at 103.74 points, down 0.2 points from the end of last week. According to some analysts, the dollar has appreciated against most major currencies such as the Swiss franc and the euro, but the outlook remains weak amid concerns about slowing growth stemming from the trade policies of President Donald Trump's administration.
The US dollar rose 0.07%, reaching 103.9 in early week trading, as investors worried about the possibility of a US economic recession. However, the greenback also gained against several major currencies such as the euro, the Swiss franc, and the British pound.
On March 12, the US dollar fell 0.42%, to 103.42. Most recently, US President Donald Trump announced he would retaliate against the European Union's (EU) threat to impose retaliatory tariffs on US goods starting next month after Trump imposed comprehensive tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.
The US dollar recovered slightly to 103.91 on March 13, as the ongoing trade war between the US and its trading partners increased uncertainty among investors.
By March 14th, the DXY index had risen 0.22%, reaching 103.83 points as investors consolidated their positions after selling off the US dollar amid concerns about slowing growth stemming from the US administration's trade policies.
Data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on March 13 showed that U.S. producer prices unexpectedly remained unchanged in February, but the prospect of tariffs makes it unlikely that prices will remain low in the coming months.
The US dollar closed the trading week down slightly by 0.09%, at 103.74 points, as data showed rising inflation expectations, suggesting the Federal Reserve may be more patient in its interest rate cutting path.
