Meanwhile, in the May 11th trading session, world gold prices reversed course and rose slightly, as investors assessed new developments in the Middle East while awaiting key US inflation data to be released this week.
Specifically, spot gold prices rose 0.2% to $4,723.40 per ounce, after having fallen more than 1% earlier in the session. Meanwhile, US gold futures closed at $4,728.70 per ounce.
Jim Wyckoff, a market analyst at the gold trading company American Gold Exchange, believes that the recovery stems from investors buying up shares when prices fell and attempting to adjust their positions before the US releases inflation data.
The market is currently focusing its attention on President Trump's visit to Beijing starting on May 13th. US officials say Trump will discuss the Iran issue and other topics with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
