Domestic gold prices reversed course and increased by 2 million VND per tael.

The unexpected surge in global gold prices, rising by $30 to $3,358 per ounce, has also caused domestic gold prices to increase by 1-2 million VND per tael, currently trading at 121.5 million VND per tael.

Opening the trading session this morning (April 24), the two leading domestic gold brands reversed course and surged by 1-2 million VND, following the upward trend of world gold prices, while the central exchange rate turned around and increased by 31 VND.

At 9 AM, the price of SJC gold at Saigon Jewelry Company, Phu Quy Company, and Doji was listed at 119-121.5 million VND/ounce, an increase of 2 million VND/ounce compared to the previous closing price.

Similarly, the price of gold rings at Phu Quy Company is currently trading at 114.5-117.5 million VND/ounce (buy-sell), an increase of 1 million VND per ounce.

Bao Tin Minh Chau Company announced the price of plain gold rings at 119-120 million VND/ounce (buying/selling price), an increase of 2 million VND/ounce compared to the previous closing price.

The price of SJC 999.9 gold rings also increased by 1 million VND per tael, currently trading around 113.5-116.5 million VND/tael.

Due to the high price of gold, businesses have set a markup of 2-3 million VND per ounce, which shifts the risk to customers.

Globally, gold prices are fluctuating around $3,358 per ounce, up $30 from the previous closing session. This price is equivalent to 106 million VND per tael when converted using the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank , which is 13-15.5 million VND lower per tael than the domestic price, depending on the business.

This morning, the State Bank of Vietnam listed the central exchange rate for April 24th at 24,897 VND/USD, an increase of 31 dong compared to the previous session. With a +/-5% margin, Vietcombank's buying rate is 25,784 VND/USD and its selling rate is 26,174 VND/USD, an increase of 33 dong.

Similarly, VietinBank announced rates ranging from 25,820 to 26,174 VND, also an increase of 33 VND. BIDV Bank increased by 40 VND, currently trading around 25,810-26,170 VND/USD.

Eximbank also increased its rate by 45 dong, currently trading around 25,810-26,170 dong/USD.
