After several emotionally charged performances, the competition has discovered promising talents for the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) stage. To mark this occasion, we had an interview with Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, a member of the competition's judging panel.
Reporter:
Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam: Returning to the competition after more than a decade as a judge is a very special milestone for me. Having grown up in such a professional arena, I understand the pressure, the nervousness, and the efforts of the contestants. What moves me most is that despite the many difficulties facing the Cai Luong stage, the young people still maintain their love for the profession and their great passion. Many actors may not yet be technically mature, but I see in them seriousness and a strong desire to pursue their craft. Throughout the competition nights, many contestants showed meticulous investment in each role. Many performances evoked emotion thanks to their sincerity and stage presence. In my opinion, this year's competition has discovered many more "bright gems" for Cai Luong. If they continue to receive proper training and development, they will become important figures for the stage in the future.

Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam: I believe that current competitions, festivals, and professional performances still play an important role in discovering and nurturing the next generation of Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera). From platforms like "Golden Bell of Cai Luong" to professional talent competitions, many young artists have matured and become the core force of today's stage.
However, awards are just the beginning. To have a long career in cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera), artists must truly love the art form, study diligently, hone their skills, and continuously improve their stage presence. What makes me optimistic is that we still have a promising generation of young artists who retain their passion for the profession. If given more opportunities to study, perform, and gain professional experience, they will have the chance to develop sustainably and contribute to a new face for cải lương theater in the future.

Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam: Training a new generation of Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) actors cannot be done in a short time; it requires long-term investment. The most important thing is to first research and systematize the art of Cai Luong performance, especially the experience and performance style of previous generations of artists. Only then can we build a systematic training method, instead of mainly passing on skills through experience as is currently the case. In addition, we need to continue strengthening the teaching staff, creating more performance environments and opportunities for young artists to hone their skills. I also hope there will be more practical professional workshops to gradually overcome difficulties and contribute to the more sustainable development of Cai Luong theater in the future.
