LOOKING BACK AT THE OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY PROJECTS THAT WERE HONORED
Launched in August 2023, the Human Act Prize is an award aimed at honoring and promoting community-oriented projects, and appropriately recognizing organizations, businesses, and individuals who are striving to contribute to society. The award is organized under the direction of the Nhan Dan Newspaper, with the participation and support of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology , and in collaboration with VCCorp Joint Stock Company.
A total of 129 entries were submitted for the competition, covering a wide range of areas, from macro to micro. Besides projects from individuals and domestic businesses, there were also many projects from international organizations. Many projects have been implemented consistently for decades with high levels of commitment and sustainability. In addition, there were also small but incredibly innovative projects with significant impact and potential for widespread influence. From the 35 finalist projects, the judging panel selected the most outstanding ones to award prizes.

ENHANCE CONNECTIVITY VALUE, UNLEASH RESOURCES FROM THE COMMUNITY
In particular, the Community Action Award is not only created to honor and promote community service, but also to accompany, guide, and connect all individuals and groups who have, are, and will bear responsibility for the community in their journey; so that all community activities in Vietnam are built in a transparent, scientific, effective, and humane manner.
Explaining this, Ms. Mai Anh, a member of the Human Act Prize 2023 judging panel, said: The Human Act Prize aims for many goals, first and foremost to give those who are doing good work the opportunity to "tell their stories" and thereby inspire the community.
"Then, through the Human Act Prize, individuals, organizations, and businesses committed to the community will find common ground, connect, and learn from each other, eliminating stratification and boundaries. This interconnectedness will create community strength, thereby helping to spread kindness even more powerfully," Ms. Mai Anh analyzed.
In fact, the "expectations of connection" didn't have to wait until the Gala awards ceremony to be realized. Right on the day of the final judging of the 35 ideas and projects, singer My Tam, a member of the judging panel, directly donated 500 million VND to two projects, including the Community Fund for Disaster Prevention and FAS Angel.

Over the past few months, this vehicle has assisted us in helping hundreds of victims, accessing incident scenes more effectively and efficiently in narrow-road rescue operations, and saving dozens of lives when victims were in danger. Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to the program organizers for their trust and for spreading the positive values of our team,” Mr. Viet expressed.

The doctor also shared that after receiving the Human Act Prize, all project members felt a greater sense of responsibility towards the community. In the coming year, Community Medicine will continue to maintain and expand its Cancer Awareness courses. FAS Angel team captain Pham Quoc Viet happily announced: After being honored as an inspiring project, FAS Angel's reach has expanded; thereby building a truly reputable image for FAS Angel.
“When we go to local areas, people recognize us just by the color of our uniforms. And the community also sees that, in addition to emergency services, society has a volunteer group ready to help those in need free of charge and effectively. Through recognition programs like the Human Act Prize, we have been able to spread positive information to the community and become aware of new, more useful information about reputable organizations.”
Mr. Bui Doan Bach, representative of the Post-War Mine Action Project in Vietnam of the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), said: "NPA is fortunate that through the Human Act Prize, it has been able to reach more Vietnamese people, providing information and knowledge to improve safety."

HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR THE HUMAN ACT PRIZE 2024 SEASON
Sharing more with a reporter from Nhan Dan Newspaper ahead of the new Human Act Prize season, Mr. Phuc excitedly said that, after being honored a year ago, Fly to Sky will continue its journey of "committing and choosing to do good things" for the community.
As an environment that brings together over 14,000 volunteers participating in community volunteer activities, Fly to Sky has donated nearly 70,000 books, established over 150 bookcases/libraries for schools and classrooms in mountainous areas; supported over 30,000 children in accessing books and stories, and building reading habits. In addition, the group has helped nearly 20,000 children access clean water at school; provided free regular education to over 50 children at orphanages; provided basic medical equipment to support disease prevention and control for over 60,000 people; and donated over 41,000 gift packages and tens of tons of goods and necessities to disadvantaged and vulnerable people, including ethnic minorities, through the group's projects and campaigns.

Following the boost from the Human Act Prize 2023, Fly to Sky has gained more motivation and confidence to continue its journey of dedication.
Encouragingly, after the “Human Act Prize 2023,” Fly To Sky has experienced significant growth. While in September 2023, the group only implemented 27 projects of varying sizes with a total budget of 10 billion VND, by September 22, 2024, the total budget had reached over 15 billion VND. The number of volunteers has also increased dramatically; currently, the group has attracted more than 14,000 volunteers participating in community volunteer activities. The social impact of many projects, such as the White Dove Bookcase Project, the Book Exchange for Trees program, and the Tet Community Campaign – encouraging the sharing of leftover candies and snacks after Tet to underprivileged children in border areas – has spread much more widely than in previous years.
In particular, the "Exchange Books for Trees" model has spread widely, collecting 10-20 tons of paper and books of all kinds each year, distributing over 500-700 sets of textbooks and more than 5,000-10,000 books, along with many bookshelves and community libraries donated to schools in mountainous, remote, border, and ethnic minority areas, as well as social welfare facilities, helping thousands of children have access to books when they go to school and contributing to supporting equal education. In addition, the program exchanges thousands of green trees and environmentally friendly products each year.

Expressing his expectations for a new season of the Human Act Prize, Mr. Phuc said: “Personally, I and the young people of Fly to Sky hope that the Human Act Prize 2024 will continue to seek out, spread, and honor community-oriented projects that are constructive, create communities, and have a clear impact. These projects should not only be pioneering like the 2023 theme, but also provide direction for a longer journey, creating for sustainable development. The Human Act Prize should not only be a place to honor projects but also contribute to promoting projects with the motivation to develop and connect, creating a constructive community for the future.”

“I expect this year’s Human Act Prize season to see more organizations and businesses participate. I also particularly hope to see more initiatives that create jobs for people with disabilities.”
Last year, like many businesses, Tolkyolife faced numerous challenges. However, the Angel Project continued to support disadvantaged individuals. While the number of participants hasn't increased, the project has launched several training courses to improve the work ethic of those less fortunate.
TokyoLife refers to its employees with disabilities as "angels" because they are fully capable of creating exceptional value, not only materially but also spiritually. Training people with disabilities is challenging, and TokyoLife is a pioneer in developing recruitment, training, and integration processes specifically tailored for this special group.
Pham Quoc Viet, Team Leader of the FAS Angel First Aid Support Team, hopes that the Human Act Prize 2024 will include new award structures. Besides team awards, attention should also be paid to outstanding individuals.
“Many people have worked tirelessly for years to build a project. Simply honoring the project isn't enough. We should have an award structure for truly outstanding individuals who have contributed to the community. This would provide more categories and clearer perspectives for the community to consider. Personally, I hope to be nominated again this year in the 'Inspirational Figure' category so I can continue writing inspiring stories and taking inspiring actions to spread more positivity to the community,” Viet stated.

Furthermore, NPA wishes the Human Act Prize organizing committee continued success from the past year and continued recognition of projects that have been and are striving for the benefit of the Vietnamese people,” the NPA Vietnam representative stated.
