Domestic gold prices this afternoon
At the time of the survey at 2 PM on January 13, 2025, the gold prices on the exchanges of several companies were listed as follows:
The price of SJC gold, as listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), remains unchanged at 84.8 million VND/ounce (buying price) and 86.8 million VND/ounce (selling price) compared to the close of yesterday's trading session. The difference between the buying and selling price is 2.0 million VND.
Today, DOJI lists the price of 9999 gold at 84.8 million VND/ounce (buying price) and 86.8 million VND/ounce (selling price). This remains unchanged from yesterday's closing price. The difference between the buying and selling price is 2.0 million VND.
Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the listed price of SJC gold at the time of the survey was 85.2 million VND/ounce for buying and 86 million VND/ounce for selling. Thus, compared to yesterday's session, the buying price decreased by 100,000 VND/ounce and the selling price decreased by 300,000 VND/ounce.
The price of SJC gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Manh Hai companies is also being traded at 84.6 million VND/ounce (buying price) and 86.6 million VND/ounce (selling price). This represents a decrease of 200,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to the close of yesterday's trading session.
The group of state-owned commercial banks (Vietcombank, Vietinbank, Agribank , BIDV) listed the price of SJC gold bars at 86.6 million VND/ounce.

Regarding gold rings, the current buying price for SJC 9999 gold rings is 84.7 million VND/ounce and the selling price is 86.5 million VND/ounce, a decrease of 100,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to the close of yesterday's trading session.
For Hung Thinh Vuong 9999 gold rings (DOJI), the buying price decreased to 85.1 million VND/ounce and the selling price to 86.4 million VND/ounce, a decrease of 300,000 VND per ounce for the buying price and 200,000 VND per ounce for the selling price compared to yesterday.
Similarly, the price of plain gold rings at Bao Tin Minh Chau dropped to 85.2 - 86.6 million VND/ounce. However, this remains the highest price for gold rings on the market during the morning trading session on January 13th.
PNJ plain gold rings were bought at 85 million VND/ounce and sold at 86.4 million VND/ounce. A decrease of 400,000 VND/ounce was recorded for both buying and selling prices.
Conversely, Mi Hong Company increased the selling price of 999 gold rings to 86 million VND/ounce, a rise of 200,000 VND compared to the end of last week. On the buying side, this gold dealer continued to keep the price stable at around 84.7 million VND.

The spot gold price on the world market this afternoon (January 13) stood at $2,684.3 per ounce. The gold futures price was $2,713.6 per ounce.
In a recent interview with Kitco News, Kathy Lien, FX Strategy Director at BK Asset Management and co-founder of BKForex.com, stated:
“I think the movement of gold prices reflects what’s happening in the stock market, where traders are worried about rising US bond yields and the impact on borrowing costs and the consequences for economic growth. The Fed’s failure to cut interest rates sooner this year will cause more pain later,” she said.
Although gold prices are expected to remain highly volatile in 2025 due to the interplay between US monetary policy and safe-haven demand, Lien said she is still looking for trading opportunities in an uptrend.
"Overall, I'm optimistic about gold prices this year and will look for buying opportunities rather than selling," she said.
Meanwhile, Nitesh Shah, head of commodity research and macroeconomics at WisdomTree Europe, assessed that gold is an excellent portfolio diversification tool because it allows investors to improve returns while effectively managing risk.
“36% of the 800 professional investors surveyed said diversification was the primary reason they hold gold. Our analysis shows that gold has a low correlation with both stocks and bonds, therefore, it will strongly contribute to diversification efforts,” the expert said.
