Recognizing the importance of entrepreneurship education , the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to integrate this content into the curriculum through core subjects, class activities, extracurricular activities, and creative experiences, especially at the secondary and high school levels. Through these activities, students gain access to essential knowledge and skills such as business plan development, idea modeling, market analysis, financial management, presentation skills, and teamwork. Many schools also organize practical activities such as meeting entrepreneurs and visiting production facilities, giving students the opportunity to see the realities of entrepreneurship firsthand, thereby developing independent and creative thinking.
| While the provincial-level student startup idea competition in the 2023-2024 academic year attracted 72 projects from 59 participating units, the number increased to 117 in 2024, with 84 projects selected for the final round. |
One of the highlights in school entrepreneurship is Chu Van An High School for the Gifted. Principal Mong Thanh Thuy stated: "The school always emphasizes encouraging students to participate in scientific research and develop creative ideas related to practical applications, especially local issues and daily life. In 2024, a group of students from the school implemented the project 'Scoobeedoo – Organic Products Made from Saturated Yeast,' with products such as Kombucha tea, instant jelly, jam, and organic lychees made from Scoby yeast. With its high applicability and green development message, the project won first prize at the provincial-level 'Students and Young Entrepreneurs with Startup Ideas' competition."
The entrepreneurial spirit is not limited to high schools but is gradually spreading to junior high schools. For example, at Le Quy Don Primary and Junior High School, Mr. Nong Ngoc Hoi, the school's Vice Principal, stated: "Beyond focusing on theoretical teaching, the school actively organizes experiential activities, creating opportunities for students to develop entrepreneurial projects from simple things in life. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's students achieved many outstanding results, such as: the 'Mugwort Enamel Bath Powder' project won third prize at the provincial youth and children's creative competition; the 'Rice Flour Dishwashing Liquid' project won second prize at the provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competition. These successes demonstrate the school's correct orientation in educating life skills, vocational skills, and the spirit of creativity in students from the junior high school level."
The province currently has approximately 240 schools from junior high to high school levels. The effectiveness of entrepreneurship education in schools has been clearly demonstrated. While the provincial-level student entrepreneurship competition in the 2023-2024 school year attracted 72 projects from 59 participating units, by 2024, the number of projects increased to 117, with 84 projects selected for the final round. One of the outstanding projects is "Processing and Trading Several Products from Pumpkin" by a group of students from Cao Loc High School. Nguyen Thao My, a student in class 10A2 and a member of the project group, shared: "Recognizing the limited market for pumpkins in the locality, our group proposed processing them into products such as milk, jam, cakes, and utilizing by-products to produce bio-fertilizer. This will both increase the economic value of agricultural products and contribute to environmental protection."
Evaluating the achievements over the past period, Ms. Phan My Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: Entrepreneurship education has made significant progress, reflected in the increasing number and quality of projects, which are closely aligned with reality, highly creative, and applicable. Students not only demonstrate innovative thinking but also show initiative and confidence in implementing their ideas. A clear example is at the 2024 National Student Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition, Lang Son had 5 projects selected to participate, of which 2 outstanding projects reached the final round and achieved high results with 1 first prize and 1 third prize.
To further enhance effectiveness, in the coming period, the provincial education sector will implement a comprehensive set of solutions such as: organizing training courses on project development skills; strengthening connections between schools and businesses and vocational education institutions; promoting communication and disseminating exemplary innovative models and products; and mobilizing social resources to create a favorable environment, encouraging and supporting students to boldly realize their ideas and pursue entrepreneurship.
