Transportation "paves the way" for development.

Joy and excitement have been the feelings of hundreds of households in Mon Ha village, Xuan Lao commune, in recent days since the construction of the village road began. Previously, the distance from the village to the commune center wasn't far, but due to the lack of upgrades, the road surface had many potholes, making travel very difficult in the rain. The difficult road conditions also hindered the trade and transportation of goods for the villagers.

Mr. Kieu Xuan Hoang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xuan Lao commune, said: "The people are very happy with the construction of the new road. They are happy because, in addition to the attention of the Party committee, the government, political and social organizations, and philanthropists, the completion of the road is also partly thanks to the contributions of the people."

According to the Party Secretary of Xuan Lao commune, the Mon Ha village road project has a total investment of over 2.5 billion VND. While not a large investment, it holds special political significance because, in addition to 100% of the funding coming from social contributions, all land, assets, crops, and structures affected by the project were voluntarily donated by the people to expand the road, covering an area of nearly 2,000 ^{square meters} .

Expressing his joy at the road's completion before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon, Mr. Lo Van Ky from Mon Ha village shared: "Most people in Mon Ha village still face economic difficulties. With the new road, travel and transportation of food and supplies will be much more convenient. Unlike before, when travel was very difficult, especially during the rainy season, the roads were slippery and people kept falling."

With a focus on developing transportation infrastructure, in just the last few years, Muong Ang district has invested hundreds of billions of VND in implementing many key transportation projects, including inter-commune and intra-village roads, to open up economic arteries, connect key economic zones in the area, and create opportunities for trade for the people. Particularly with the motto "The State and the People work together," in recent years, the rural transportation system in Muong Ang district has been developing synchronously. To date, 100% of communes have roads accessible by car to their centers; the existing system of commune, inter-commune, and village roads has been paved, making travel convenient year-round. Of this, nearly 80km at the district level and 130km at the commune level have been paved. The total number of village roads is nearly 200km, with over 100km already paved, meeting the transportation and goods delivery needs of the local people.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Muong Ang District, said: Recognizing that transportation is one of the important criteria in the process of building new rural areas, creating a foundation to promote socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security, Muong Ang district has annually taken advantage of state investment funds; at the same time, it has mobilized the people to contribute funds and manpower to accelerate the construction of main roads and inter-village and inter-commune roads, making it convenient for people to travel and facilitating trade. With the efforts of the Party committees and local authorities, especially with appropriate approaches, the new rural development program in general, and the development of rural transportation infrastructure in particular, in Muong Ang district has gathered the strength of unity and mobilized the participation of the entire political system.

Although the road network in Muong Ang district has been and is being comprehensively invested in, due to its characteristics as a mountainous district, Muong Ang still has many roads that need new investment or upgrading and expansion. However, the most important issue is the difficulty in securing funding. To overcome these difficulties, the Party Committee and the government of Muong Ang district are making efforts to mobilize the people to contribute labor and land with the motto "The State and the People work together." At the same time, they hope to continue receiving attention from the Central Government and the province to help improve the lives of the people step by step.
