The water level of the Red River has risen above the level 2 warning threshold and is expected to continue rising, forcing more than 800 households outside the Red River dike in four wards of Bac Tu Liem district to evacuate to safe areas. In response, many schools in the area have prepared facilities, supplies, drinking water, and essential food, ready to welcome residents seeking shelter on campus.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh, Principal of Thuy Phuong Primary School, said that since yesterday, the school has made full arrangements for food, hot/cold drinks, and sleeping accommodations to welcome people to the school. The school's gymnasium has a capacity of about 80-100 people, but currently only 3 households with 8 people have come to the school to take shelter.

"If the water level continues to rise, the school is ready to welcome residents," Ms. Thanh said.

With the number of people coming to school not yet large, Ms. Thanh said, "the school can still manage on its own." This afternoon, the school asked the kitchen to prepare an additional 8 meals so that the residents could eat lunch with the students. This evening, teachers will stay to cook meals for the residents.

"For now, all the teachers are working together in solidarity. Because the number of people arriving is not yet large, the school has proposed to the ward that the school take the initiative, and the leaders should focus on flood control on the dike. When the number increases and more support is needed, the school will make a request."

"We are always ready to lend a hand and share with our compatriots during this difficult time, we only hope that people in the flooded areas will proactively relocate to ensure the safety of themselves and their families," Ms. Thanh said.

Dong Ngac Secondary School is also proactively preparing foam mats, blankets, pillows, drinking water, and instant food to serve people who come to evacuate. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Phuong, Principal of Dong Ngac Secondary School, said that the school has arranged a separate area in the multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 150-200 people. In case students switch to online learning, the school's capacity can reach up to a thousand people.

"Currently, no residents have come to the school, but we are ready to welcome them at any time," Ms. Phuong said.

Currently, Dong Ngac Secondary School has prepared the necessary facilities and conditions to ensure that people can stay at the school until it is safe to return home. "We hope everyone remains calm so that everyone can be safe," Ms. Phuong shared.

Similarly, Duc Thang Secondary School stated that, in response to information about the evacuation of residents from the flooded area, the school had arranged the 4th floor of the boarding facility as temporary accommodation and was ready to welcome approximately 150 people.

"For families of students at risk of flooding, we will also invite the students and their families to the school for evacuation. The school is ready to welcome them at any time," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thinh, the school principal.

Thuong Cat Secondary School has also been preparing rice, water, and instant noodles since yesterday; and has set aside its library and boarding rooms, with a capacity of about 200 people, to be ready to welcome people seeking shelter.

Yesterday, the Department of Education and Training of Bac Tu Liem district directed schools in the area to prepare personnel, facilities, supplies, drinking water, and essential food items to be ready to receive residents seeking shelter at schools when local authorities carry out evacuations, ensuring safety.

Schools have already arranged gymnasiums, meeting rooms, and other functional rooms to accommodate residents, so the relocation will not affect students' learning.

Even in Hoang Mai district, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Lien, Principal of Tan Mai Primary School, said that if the school continues to be assigned the task of receiving households affected by the storm, it will always be ready.

Previously, this school served as a shelter for residents from the old A7 Tan Mai apartment complex as they responded to Typhoon Yagi ( Typhoon No. 3). The school arranged 11 classrooms and prepared blankets, mattresses, mats, drinking water, and instant noodles to serve the residents during the stormy days.
