Preserving and spreading the glorious moments of the nation.

Half a century has passed since the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, but the memories of war and peace live on through every article, every film, every news item recounted by today's "journalistic corps." Journalists are the tireless record-makers who meticulously capture every historical moment with passion and dedication, continuing to write history in the language of the times, helping the younger generation see themselves in that story, understand more about their predecessors, and allowing the older generation to relive those years.

"It's not just a professional duty, but also a great honor."

During the glorious days of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) in Ho Chi Minh City, press agencies, with their "warriors" on the information front, played a crucial role in recording, transmitting, and spreading the atmosphere of the April 30th celebration to people nationwide and internationally, creating a positive effect on media platforms both domestically and abroad.

From the early morning of April 30, 2025, many domestic and foreign reporters were present on central streets of Ho Chi Minh City such as Le Duan, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Pasteur, etc., to film, report, and convey the solemn and proud atmosphere.

Reporters arrived as early as 2-3 am to secure the best spots in the press area for their work. They all waited for hours until dawn to begin. By 5:30 am, it was already hot and humid, and just a few hours later, the sun was blazing. The journalists continued working diligently with their cameras, recording equipment, phones, and laptops, updating every detail minute by minute, frame by frame.

Journalist Ha Khanh from the Voice of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City shared: “After midnight, we decided to start heading to the area where the parade would take place, preparing all the necessary equipment and vehicles for reporting and security arrangements at the ceremonial platform… By around 5 am, we were all ready in all positions, about a dozen people from the live broadcast team and the news teams covering all the official points of the ceremony. Everyone was ready to bring the latest and hottest information to our readers and viewers…”

Reporter Ky Hoa (Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper) said: “We arrived at 3 am to complete procedures, check equipment, and choose the best vantage point for our work. Everyone was tense, following the flow of events, but the emotions were unforgettable when witnessing the moment the troops marched forward amidst the applause and cheers of the people. I was extremely proud and moved. I was also assigned the additional task of observing and recording, thereby conveying the work of my colleagues while they were working…”

Online news outlets, radio stations, and television channels mobilized their resources to the fullest, dividing tasks and areas to provide news coverage, live broadcasts, and high-quality image sharing. For journalists and reporters, working during the Grand Celebration was not only a professional duty but also a great honor. Journalist Le Manh Linh from the News and Ethnic Groups Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency) said that closely following and documenting the rehearsals, general rehearsals, and the official ceremony under the heavy rain or scorching sun of Ho Chi Minh City left a deep impression on his career. Especially memorable were the helicopter trips from Bien Hoa airport to Ho Chi Minh City during those historic days of April.

“As the helicopter's rotors spun, lifting me off the ground, the entire city unfolded before my eyes like a vibrant panorama of peace and development. Especially on Le Duan Street (District 1), where the preliminary and final rehearsals of the state-level parade took place, the reporter felt as if they had entered a sacred realm of the Fatherland. The resounding military music, the decisive and courageous steps, and the bright, confident eyes of the marching forces filled my heart with excitement. Under the vibrant red of the fluttering national flag, every image I captured seemed imbued with the indomitable spirit and national pride,” journalist Manh Linh emotionally shared.

According to journalist Le Manh Linh, he relentlessly pressed the shutter button, striving to capture every moment not only through his lens but also with his heart. He clearly felt that, during those April days, with the stirring military march music and the warm sunshine, every breath and every step was filled with pride and love for the country.

"For me, this is not just about fulfilling a duty, but also an opportunity to contribute to preserving the sacred images of our homeland," journalist Mạnh Linh emphasized.

Among the hundreds of foreign journalists covering the event, Mr. Murayama Yasufumi was a journalist from Kyoto (Japan). Reporter Murayama Yasufumi shared that he clearly felt the spirit and affection of the people, especially the youth, towards Vietnam through this important event. He also noted that Vietnamese journalists were very open and supportive of each other.

The "army" of journalism contributes to reviving glorious moments of history.

Not only did reporters and journalists focus on covering the momentous event of the official parade on April 30th, but they also persistently followed and comprehensively reflected the series of activities celebrating the April 30th anniversary that lasted for many days before. From rehearsals, special art programs, exhibitions, to activities of gratitude and meetings with historical witnesses, the footsteps and lenses of journalists were everywhere.

Through this, thousands of news articles, reports, and features were produced and published by journalists and reporters, contributing to preserving the heroic moments of this national celebration. All the news articles, images, and films, the most authentic and vivid coverage of the activities during the Grand Celebration by over 700 journalists, demonstrated a sense of responsibility to their profession and to their readers, from their approach to the issues to their diligence in their work. They fully reflected the spirit of the April 30th commemoration and affirmed the indispensable role of the press in preserving and disseminating the nation's historical memory.

As acknowledged and assessed by Comrade Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, during the opening of the Press Center serving the April 30th National Celebration: “The journalistic ‘branches’ have made a very important contribution in recording, transmitting, and spreading this atmosphere to the people nationwide, creating a positive effect on domestic and international media platforms. Through this, they have helped to revive the heroic historical moments and demonstrate the determination of the entire nation as it enters a new era.”

In fact, the "army" of journalism not only recorded, transmitted, and spread the atmosphere of this great event to the people nationwide, but also created a positive and widespread effect on media platforms both domestically and internationally. Through this, the heroic moments of history were revived, igniting national pride and contributing to demonstrating the nation's determination to enter a new era – an era of peace, integration, and development.

The 50th anniversary celebration of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country received enthusiastic and strong support from the national and international press; including the participation of 169 international reporters from 39 news agencies and 17 countries; and more than 630 reporters from 81 domestic media outlets registered to cover the grand ceremony.
