Over the years, officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station have always strived to overcome all difficulties, successfully fulfilling their nhiệm vụ of protecting national sovereignty and border security, preventing crime, building a strong local political system, and helping people in border communes with healthcare and economic development.

Officers from the Bat Mot Border Guard Station are disseminating information and mobilizing local people to participate in protecting the border and boundary markers.

Located in Bat Mot commune – a particularly difficult border commune in Thuong Xuan district – the Bat Mot Border Guard Post is tasked with managing and protecting 17.492 km of border with 7 border markers and 2 adjacent markers; it also has the Kheo - Tha Lau secondary border gate located on National Highway 47, bordering Sam To district, Hua Phan province (Laos). The lives of the people in this area are still very difficult; many villages and hamlets have not yet escaped poverty, are up to 15 km from the commune center, and the roads through the mountains and forests are treacherous. Due to the large geographical area and limited education levels, the unit's area of ​​responsibility faces many potential risks to security and order, especially various types of crimes that exploit loopholes to commit offenses, particularly illegal border crossings, smuggling, commercial fraud, theft, and the illegal trafficking and storage of narcotics.

Major Tran Van Sy, Deputy Political Officer of Bat Mot Border Guard Station, shared: "To ensure security and order in the area, the Party Committee, the Command Board, and the Party committees and authorities of the communes regularly exchange information, closely monitor the situation, and coordinate to effectively carry out propaganda and mobilization work to encourage the people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and regulations in the border area. At the same time, the unit organizes and implements professional measures, mobilizes forces to regularly patrol and control the border and inland areas, prevent illegal entry and exit, and combat all types of crime. In particular, we have developed plans and coordinated with other forces to ensure the safety of the area during major national holidays; we have heightened vigilance and are ready to coordinate with forces stationed in the area to promptly and flexibly handle any situations that may arise..."

Accordingly, from the beginning of 2022 to the present, the border guard post has conducted 58 unilateral border patrols and inspections along the border and 7 national border markers with 423 officers and soldiers participating; 7 bilateral patrols with Company 216 (Laos) with 168 participants; coordinated with Thong Thu Border Guard Post ( Nghe An province) to patrol marker 358 twice with 32 participants; and coordinated with the permanent militia squad and Bat Mot commune police to conduct 15 patrols with 120 participants. In addition, the unit has coordinated 89 patrols and control operations to ensure security and order in the area with 268 participants; and coordinated 12 patrols to protect forest security with 96 participants in coordination with the Thuong Xuan District Forest Management Unit.

Furthermore, the unit has identified that raising public awareness of the law is a key solution in ensuring security and order. The border guard station has proactively coordinated with the police, militia, and various departments and organizations in the commune to diversify propaganda methods, such as: direct propaganda in villages and households, through village loudspeaker systems, and mobile loudspeakers of the border guard... Experienced officers in mass mobilization work are regularly sent to the area to directly engage with the people, helping them with production and building sustainable livelihood models; at the same time, launching movements for all citizens to participate in protecting national security, protecting the national border, and building a strong foundation within the people... They effectively implement the Vietnamese Border Guard Law and agreements between the two states; building a "peaceful and friendly" border for socio-economic development. Since the beginning of 2022, the unit has organized 104 legal awareness and dissemination sessions, attracting nearly 13,575 listeners.

Furthermore, the unit is responsible for border communes with rugged terrain and a complex network of small roads. Many individuals often exploit the difficult circumstances and limited awareness of residents living on both sides of the border to hire them to transport drugs across the border. Therefore, to eliminate hotspots of illegal drug trafficking, storage, and use, the unit has implemented various operational measures and coordinated with local armed forces to launch numerous intensive campaigns to combat and suppress drug crimes. They have increased personnel in key areas and locations with complex drug-related issues to patrol and control. They focus on detecting and dismantling illegal drug trafficking and transportation networks from the border into the interior; and reviewing, detecting, and dismantling complex points of retail drug sales and organized illegal drug use. From the beginning of 2022 to the present, the station has detected and coordinated the arrest of one case involving one drug offender, seizing 10.8 kg of opium pods. They also handled one case of illegal immigration and emigration, contributing 4 million VND to the state budget. Furthermore, they encouraged local residents to surrender 12 firearms. Finally, they handled one case of illegal hunting, contributing 10 million VND to the state budget.

Vi Van Sang, Party Secretary of Kheo village, shared: “The people in the village mainly live and cultivate fields along the border; therefore, when border guards came to mobilize and educate people to participate in protecting the border, boundary markers, and security, the people were very happy and responded enthusiastically (100% of households in Kheo village signed a commitment to protect the border and boundary markers). In particular, when the people discovered information about security breaches, illegal emigration, etc., they promptly informed the border guards and the authorities for effective handling. A peaceful border is a joy for the border guards, and also a joy for the people of Kheo village.”
